Penn State Nittany Lions

PSU crawls into this Friday night pairing sporting a flawless 3-0 record. The Nittany Lions three wins so far this season have been 45-38, 51-6 and 63-10, making it perfectly clear that they are more than dominating the competition. And even though they have yet to face a nationally ranked opponent, Penn State is picking up notoriety with each passing weekend. We’ll get a clear look at how Penn State measures up in Week 5 when they host Ohio State. But until then, we’ll have to wager on this Friday’s contest. The college football betting odds are sticking with Penn State all the way and bettors should to. Right now PSU is averaging 53 points per game to Illinois’ 28. On top of that, the Fighting Illini are allotting a whopping 480 yards per game. With that in mind, we can expect Penn State to have another monster offensive day en route to another lopsided triumph.

Players to Watch: Trace McSorley (603 passing yards, 5 TD, 1 INT), Miles Sanders (295 rushing yards, 2 TD, 6.0 AVG), and KJ Hamler (129 receiving yards, 2 TD, 7 REC).

Illinois Fighting Illini

The Fighting Illini have fought their way to a 2-1 record this season. Although they managed to pick up the first two games of the season, Illinois fell short against South Florida this past weekend 25-19. Lack of offensive production was the nail in the coffin for Illinois on the day. Despite the fact that their opponent racked up 626 total yards on the day, Illinois barely managed to scrap together 380 total yards. And while it’s true that the defense could have played a little better, they did manage to force two turnovers on the day. All in all it was a poor day for the program. If they’re unable to deliver a vast turnaround before this Friday, we can expect Illinois to suffer a massive blowout at the hands of Penn State.

Players to Watch: MJ Rivers II (273 passing yards, 2 TD, 0 INT), Mike Epstein (251 rushing yards, 2 TD, 7.2 AVG), and Ricky Smalling (110 receiving yards, 0 TD, 7 REC).
