Oregon vs. Stanford Odds, Betting Trends on College Football
Posted by: Anthony Yaylor
At the beginning of every season, Stanford is a popular pick to contend for the Pac 12 North Division title. All of which makes their poor start to the season quite alarming. The Cardinal suffered a humiliating college football betting loss at Central Florida last week. Of great concern is that there is no evidence they are ready to get back into winning form. Counter to that is the recent play of Oregon. Two wins in a row have followed a tough opening night heartbreaker against Auburn. The Quack Attack offense has been reminiscent of their glory days.
Oregon Ducks Vs. Stanford Cardinal
Last week Oregon failed to cover a 35-3 home win over Montana as 39.5-point chalks. That came after a 77-6 home payout over a good Nevada team. The Ducks enter this week at 2-1 both straight up and against the spread with two under. National metrics point towards an impressive Oregon team. To illuminate the Ducks, rank 18th for scoring offense and 15th for points allowed. Quarterback Justin Hebert has lived up tom billing. Head coach Mario Cristobal has stabilized a program that badly needed it. In 2018 Oregon blew a 24-7 third-quarter lead in a loss to Stanford.
Players to Watch: QB Justin Herbert (868 YDS, 73% COMP, 8.3 YPC, 11 TD, 0 INT, 177.3 RTG), RB Travis Dye (29 RSH, 152 YDS, 5.2 YPC, 0 TD, 5 REC, 50 YDS, 10.0 YPC, 0 TD), RB CJ Verdell (30 RSH, 149 YDS, 5.0 YPC, 2 TD), WR Johnny Johnson III (19 REC, 223 YDS, 11.7 YPC, 2 TD), TE Jacob Breeland (13 REC, 187 YDS, 14.4 YPC, 3 TD), WR Jaylon Redd (14 REC, 95 YDS, 6.8 YPC, 2 TD)
Overall Stanford is 1-2 straight up and with the odds with two overs. A 45-27 loss at Central Florida was bad enough. But coming after a 45-20 debacle at USC to a freshman quarterback has raised eyebrows. Head coach David Shaw decided to tinker with the offense in the offseason. More emphatically he wanted more finesse and less brawn. Problematic is that the Cardinal has had its success with a power game established 10 years ago under Jim Harbaugh.
Players to Watch: QB KJ Costello (351 YDS, 58% COMP, 5.5 AVG, 2 TD, 1 INT, 111.1 RTG), RB Cameron Scarlett (51 RSH, 224 YDS, 4.4 YPC, 1 TD, 10 REC, 88 YDS, 8.8 YPC, 0 TD), TE Colby Parkinson (17 REC, 178 YDS, 10.5 YPC, 0 TD), WR Connor Wedington (15 REC, 162 YDS, 10.8 AVG, 1 TD), WR Michael Wilson (11 REC, 118 YDS, 10.7 YPC, 2 TD),

On this occasion, Oregon will be out to avenge its legal betting flop to Stanford last year. The Ducks will have not lived that down. Meanwhile, Stanford hardly looks the part of a team that can take them.
