The college football betting season is fast approaching and fans should prepare for the Oregon Ducks vs. Auburn Tigers Week 1 matchup. Both teams are coming off successful seasons and will be ready to deliver a spectacle as they duke it out from the get go. So what do NCAA sportsbooks have to say about this particular pairing? Let’s take a look at the betting odds to find out.
Oregon Ducks vs. Auburn Tigers – Saturday, August 31st
Duke Blue Devils vs. Alabama Crimson Tide Betting Odds
The Ducks are coming off a season in which they finished 9-4 and posted a respectable 5-4 record in Pac-12 play. All in all this led to a 4th place ranking in the North Division, exactly where the program had finished the year before. Due to their regular season success, the Ducks were invited to participate in the Redbox Bowl. There they would face Michigan State in a low-scoring 7-6 winning effort. All in all, the program is poised to build on their success with a good deal of their offensive starters returning.
Mario Cristobal will return in 2019 as head coach. 2018 marked his first season as the helm and overall he performed pretty well. Marcus Arroyo will return at offensive coordinator but Oregon has brought in Andy Avalos to serve as 1st year defensive coordinator.
Players to Watch: Justin Herbert (3,151 passing yards, 29 TD, 8 INT), CJ Verdell (1,018 rushing yards, 10 TD, 5.0 AVG), and Jaylon Redd (433 receiving yards, 5 TD, 38 REC).
The Tigers clawed their way to an 8-5 record that included a less than respectable 3-5 record in SEC play. Unsurprisingly, this led to a 5th place ranking in the West Division of the SEC, which was a massive step down from the 1st place finish the program had delivered the previous year. With this in mind, it’s clear that Auburn is looking for a dire turnaround this upcoming season.
Guz Malzahn will be making his return in 2019, marking his 7th season serving as Auburn’s head coach. Under his helm, Auburn has posted a 53-27 overall record. While that’s pretty eye-catching, Auburn hasn’t been as strong in SEC play as they are 28-20 in conference play under Malzahn. Albeit, the SEC is one of the toughest conferences in the nation.
Players to Watch: JaTarvious Whitlow (787 rushing yards, 6 TD, 5.2 AVG), Kam Martin (458 rushing yards, 1 TD, 4.4 AVG), and Seth Williams (546 receiving yards, 1 TD, 69 REC).
