NCAA Football Betting Odds:
Ole Miss Rebels
The Rebels turned in a 6-6 record last season that also included a disappointing 3-5 record in SEC play. Naturally, that conference record lead to a 6th place ranking in the SEC’s West Division. Consequently, the Rebels missed out on the SEC championship game. Not to worry however, as they would receive the cordial invite to the Egg Bowl where they would face, as usual, Mississippi State. Since the Bulldogs came in ranked as the 16th best program in the nation, it wasn’t shocking to see them come out on top 31-28. That loss would the Rebels final game of the season as they did not receive any more postseason invitations thereafter. Heading into this year’s action, head coach Matt Luke looks to build on last year’s success in his 2nd season with the program.
Players to Watch: Jordan Ta’amu (1,682 passing yards, 11 TD, 4 INT), D’Vaughn Pennamon (217 rushing yards, 2 TD, 53 CAR), and AJ Brown (1,252 receiving yards, 11 D, 75 REC).
Texas Tech Red Raiders
The Texas Tech Red Raiders finished last year’s action with a 6-7 record that also included a 3-6 record in Big 12 play. Unsurprisingly, they ranked 8th in the Big 12’s standings and did not receive an invite to the Big 12 championships. They did however, topple Texas in their annual rivalry match 27-23. Notwithstanding that joyous victory, the Red Raiders would end the season on a sour note as they would lose to South Florida 34-38 in the Birmingham Bowl. Kliff Kingsbury returns to lead this team in his 6th season at the helm.
Players to Watch: McLane Carter (359 passing yards, 2 TD, 2 INT), Justin Stockton (797 rushing yards, 4 TD, 6.0 AVG), and TJ Vasher (845 receiving yards, 6 TD, 29 REC).
