New Mexico Lobos vs San Jose State Spartans – The New Mexico Lobos (2-2) are going to test the mettle of the San Jose State Spartans (2-2). Both teams are looking to avenge their recent losses with a rejuvenating win. The Lobos are aiming to improve their on-the-road record after coming from a 17-10 losing game against Liberty, while the Spartans were flattened by Air Force with a scoreboard of 41-24. As best sportsbook sites have consistently pointed out, teams coming from losses, especially those with not-so-ideal win-loss ratios tend to bring out their A-game. After all, they have nowhere to go but up. Even though they’re not likely to pull off a miracle and somehow enter the NCAAF finals, these teams are motivated to finish with a decent record, preferably with more wins than losses.

New Mexico Lobos
The Mexico Lobos did their best to crank up their offensive stats during their losing game versus Liberty, with a total of 363 yards covered, but they were not able to convert all these gained yards into touchdowns. Though it may seem like a lot, they are still way behind other teams with regard to offense yards with an average of only 452.2 for each game. One thing’s for sure- QB Tevaka Tuioti has to upgrade his performance, coming up short with only 1 touchdown, 2 interceptions, and throwing for a total of 139 yards. As if the lackluster offense was not enough, even the team’s defense was missing in action, allowing a staggering 467 yards to be covered by their opponent. If they are to survive this tussle, they need to improve their tactics and bank on their run defense, which is viewed as their best asset.

San Jose State Spartans
The San Jose State Spartans did too little too late against Air Force. The two touchdowns they scored very late in the game was not enough to equalize the 41-24 final score. The offense yards covered by the team was only 378. The backup QB contributed the two touchdowns, going 5 out of 7 with a total of 82 yards. Just like the Lobos, their defense is almost nonexistent, allowing Air Force to cover a total of 513 yards.
