Let’s see which team football sportsbooks are siding with this time around.

NCAA Football Betting Odds:

Penn State Nittany Lions +7 (-130)  57 (-110)         +205

Ohio State Buckeyes             -7 (+110)         57 (-110)         -245

Penn State Nittany Lions

The Nittany Lions crawl into this Week 9 matchup sporting a stellar 7-0 record that has prompted the AP to rank Penn State as the 2nd best program in the nation, behind the still undefeated Alabama Crimson Tide. Penn State still has a lot to prove before they reach that No. 1 spot in the nation, but a win against the No. 6 team this weekend certainly would be a step in the right direction. Penn State is 4-0 in conference play this season, which gives them the lead in the Big Ten East standings. The Nittany Lions last stepped onto the gridiron this past weekend when they faced the No. 19 Michigan Wolverines. Penn State came out unscathed 42-13, once again asserting their dominance as the 2nd best team in the NCAA.

Ohio State Buckeyes

The Buckeyes head into this weekend’s rivalry match flashing a 6-1 record that has paved the way to their No. 6 nationwide ranking. Ohio State has also posted a superb 4-0 in conference play so far in 2017, which ties them for 2nd place in the Big Ten East alongside Michigan State. The Buckeyes last faced the unranked Nebraska Cornhuskers on the football field and were able to hand a 56-14 beating to their opponent. Ohio State enters this weekend’s action riding a 5 game winning streak. This win streak, in part, has led NCAA football sportsbooks to actually favor the No. 5 team in the nation over the 2nd best team in the US. This is certainly a bit of a shocker, especially when looking at how drastic the odds are.

Looking over both team’s numbers, it’s hard to tell who will come out on top. However, there’s no question that this contest will be a nail-biter. The Buckeyes offense is averaging 47.3 points while their defense gives up 15.4 per outing. Similarly, Penn State is gaining 40.0 each weekend offensively while their defense is only allotting 9.6. With those kind of numbers, it’s literally impossible to peg one team over another. However, with the odds available on Penn State, NCAA football betting players would be foolish not to take a shot at the Nittany Lions.
