Clemson Tigers

The Tigers turned in a 14-0 record to finish No. 1 overall in the Atlantic Division of the ACC. In the ACC Championship game, Clemson delivered a 42-10 blowout performance over unranked Pittsburgh that proved their dominance in the ACC.  And in the first round of the college football playoffs, Clemson was paired against No. 3 Notre Dame. Notwithstanding Notre Dame’s valiant season, Clemson delivered a 30-3 blowout over the Fighting Irish. Now the Tigers are eager to prove that they are the best team in the nation and they have quite a challenge ahead of them. So what do the stats have to say about this year’s National Championship? All in all they predict one heck of a matchup. Both teams come in with terrific offenses and shutdown defenses. Right now Clemson is scoring 44.3 per game and is giving up 13.7 to their opponents. For comparison, the Crimson Tide are scoring 47.7 per game and allotting 14.8.

Players to Watch: Trevor Lawrence (2,606 passing yards, 24 TD, 4 INT), Travis Etienne (1,463 rushing yards, 21 TD, 8.3 AVG), and Tee Higgins (802 receiving yards, 10 TD, 52 REC).

Alabama Crimson Tide

The Crimson Tide turned in a masterful 14-0 record. Ultimately Bama was unchallenged in the West Division of the SEC. In the conference championship, Alabama managed to overcome No. 4 Georgia 35-28. This assured that Georgia would not make the playoffs and that Bama would retain their No. 1 ranking. Unsurprisingly, the odds are pegging Bama as a slight favorite over Clemson. And while we can’t know for sure who will come out on top, we can be certain that this will be one memorable title fight.

Players to Watch: Tua Tagovailoa (3,353 passing yards, 37 TD, 4 INT), Damien Harris (771 rushing yards, 7 TD, 6.1 AVG), and Jerry Jeudy (1,103 receiving yards, 12 TD, 59 REC).
