Michigan Wolverines

The Michigan Wolverines turned in a rather disappointing 8-5 record last season. Although it was a winning record, it was also a big step down from the 10-3 record Jim Harbaugh’s team had delivered the year before. And since Michigan posted a 5-4 record in conference play, they ended up ranked 4th in the Big Ten’s East Division. Subsequently, the Wolverines missed out on the conference championship. And in the ‘The Game’, Michigan came up short against the Ohio State Buckeyes 20-31. Their final game of the season was the Outback Bowl where they faced South Carolina. Despite giving it their all, Michigan came up short once again 19-26. This resulted in their season ending in a 3-game losing streak. No doubt Harbaugh will be vying to turn things around in his 4th season with the team.

Players to Watch: John O’Korn (973 passing yards, 2 TD, 6 INT), Karan Higdon (994 rushing yards, 11 TD, 6.1 AVG), and Grant Perry (307 receiving yards, 1 TD, 25 REC).

Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish found plenty of success in 2017. Coming off a 4-8 season, no one would’ve expected Notre Dame to finish 10-3. Being an independent program, Notre Dame didn’t get invited to a conference championship. They did however, receive an invitation to the Citrus Bowl where they were paired up against LSU. Surprisingly, the Fighting Irish came out triumphant 21-17. Heading into this year’s season, Notre Dame has all the pieces in place for 9th year head coach Brian Kelly to lead this team to an exceptional season.

Players to Watch: Brandon Wimbush (1,870 passing yards, 16 TD, 6 INT), Deon McIntosh (368 rushing yards, 5 TD, 5.7 AVG), and Chase Claypool (402 receiving yards, 2 TD, 29 REC).
