Kansas State Wildcats vs Texas Longhorns 11/09/2019 – Two teams experiencing opposite streaks face each other this weekend at the Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The Kansas State Wildcats are heavy favorites to prevail by sportsbooks over the reeling Texas Longhorns. The Wildcats seem to be peaking at the right time. In their last game, they won over the Kansas Jayhawks 38-10. They hold a 6-2 record for the year. The Longhorns lost their last assignment against the TCU Horned Frogs. Despite a good ground game, they hold a 5-3 record thus far. They need to win direly against Kansas State. A loss to the Wildcats snuffs their hopes of a potential rematch with the Oklahoma Sooners.

Kansas State Wildcats
The Kansas State Wildcats are cruising to wins with lots of credit to QB Skylar Thompson. Against Oklahoma, he completed 18 of his 28 passes for 213 yards plus a touchdown. He continued the same success against Kansas with 17 carries for 127 yards and three scores. Thompson is getting it down with the help of the team’s veterans. That includes running backs James Gilbert and Jordon Brown. This somehow explains why they are one of the top-scoring teams in the nation, averaging 33.4 points per game. If the trend continues, the Longhorns defense will be in for a tough outing.
Players to watch: S. Thompson QB 107 CMP 177 ATT 1,336 YDS 60.5 CMP% 7.5 AVG 46 LNG 7 TD 1 INT; J. Gilbert RB 100 ATT 558 YDS 5.6 AVG 51 LNG; J. Brown RB 39 ATT 237 YDS 6.1 AVG 50 LNG; D. Schoen WR 25 REC 389 YDS 15.6 AVG 46 LNG; M. Knowles WR 16 REC 231 YDS 14.4 AVG 34 LNG
The Longhorns are not doing that bad despite losing to TCU. However, they will need to execute with caution, especially against a team like Kansas State. Texas could opt to keep the ball in the ground to get something going. The Wildcats are allowing 5.3 yards per rushing attempt, an opening the Longhorns can exploit. If successful, Keaontay Ingram and Roschon Johnson could come out with big games. However, they also need to improve on the defensive side. Texas is giving up 31.5 points per game and conceding 305.4 yards per contest. This is something they cannot afford against the Wildcats.
