So what kind of matchup should NCAA sports betting fans expect here?

The Cougars managed to post an 8-5 record last season that included a 5-3 record in American Athletic Conference play. That record led to a 2nd place ranking in the West Division in the conference, landing exactly where they had finished the previous season. The more interesting thing to happen to the Cougars last season was the firing of head coach Major Applewhite. Although Houston finished 15-11 through 2 seasons under his watch, the program was upset that the program was 0-3 min Bowl Games under his watch. And since they were pummeled 70-14 by Army last year, it’s easy to see why he was dismissed.
Now Houston is ready to enter the Dana Holgorsen era. Holgorsen has been involved in coaching college football since 1993 and has been serving as a head coach since 2011. West Virginia was the first program to offer him a head coaching position, where he served from 2011-2018. With him at the helm, the Mountaineers posted an extremely respectable 61-41 record. However, they weren’t quite as dominant in conference play as they finished 38-32 in the Big 12. Additionally, it’s somewhat surprising to see that they fired Applewhite for his lack of Bowl Game success but turnaround and hire Holgorsen – who is 1-5 in Bowl Games with West Virginia.
Players to Watch: D’Eriq King (2,982 passing yards, 36 TD, 6 INT), Patrick Carr (868 rushing yards, 5 TD, 5.7 AVG), and Marquez Stevenson (1,019 receiving yards, 9 TD, 75 REC).
The Sooners managed to post a 12-2 record last season, which was the exact same record the program had posted the year before. Additionally, the Sooners would go on to pot an 8-1 record in Big 12 play to earn the No. 1 spot in the conference once again. In the Big 12 Championship, Oklahoma would face No. 9 Texas in a 39-27 winning effort. Afterwards, they would earn a draw into the college football playoffs. Unfortunately, it didn’t amount to much as they were bested by Alabama 34-45.
Lincoln Riley will make his return at head coach in 2019. He is joined by his usual staff of offensive coordinators Cale Gundy and Bill Bedenbaugh. Alex Grinch is stepping in as first year defensive coordinator.
Players to Watch: Austin Kendall (122 passing yards, 1 TD, 0 INT), Kennedy Brooks (1,056 rushing yards, 12 TD, 8.9 AVG), and CeeDee Lamb (1,158 receiving yards, 11 TD, 65 REC).
