Ole Miss Rebels
The Ole Miss Rebels come into this regular season finale with a 5-6 losing record that ranks the program penultimate in the SEC – West standings. The Rebels season has been littered with ups and downs since the program has managed to accrue some brief winning streaks before falling apart and delivering a less than stellar losing streak. Furthermore, the program’s lousy 2-5 record in conference play ranks them near the bottom of one of the toughest divisions in collegiate football. The Rebels are coming off a 24-31 loss to Texas A&M that marked the program’s first loss in three games. If Ole Miss is able to close out the regular season with an upset win over their Mississippi rival, they will not only manage to close out 2017 at .500, they will also give college football sportsbook players one of the biggest thrills of this year’s season.
Mississippi State Bulldogs
The Bulldogs come into their final game of the regular season sporting an 8-3 record that ranks the program 4th in the SEC – West, behind Alabama, Auburn and LSU. The Bulldogs have posted a 4-3 record in conference play, with their only losses of the season coming at the hands of the best programs in the nation. It’s been a pretty successful season for Mississippi State, but they need to close it out on a high note by pummeling the Rebels this Thursday. The Bulldogs are far from being in playoff contention and while a massive win over the Rebels will not help them get a ticket to the playoffs, it will unquestionably help them get an entry into a high profile Bowl Game. Mississippi State last stepped onto the gridiron to face Arkansas in a 28-21 winning effort. The 16th ranked program in the nation will be looking for a more decisive and lopsided finish this Thursday.
Looking over both team’s averages, it’s clear that this game will be as lopsided as the 16 point football betting book spread line predicts. The Bulldogs average 32.5 offensively while Ole Miss puts up 33 each weekend. However, on the defensive side of the ball the differences are much more evident. Mississippi State allots 19.5 to their opponent while Ole Miss gives up a staggering 35.2 Stick to the Bulldogs on this one.
