The college football betting season is officially under way. With marquee matchups to bet on out of the get go, NCAA sportsbook fans have plenty of lines to look over.
One particular matchup worth eyeing up is this Friday’s contest between the Utah State Aggies and the Wisconsin Badgers. Obviously, sports wagering sites are going to drastically favor the Badgers over the Aggies. But the action available on the spread and totals line should make this a matchup worth wagering on.

Utah State Aggies
The Aggies finished the 2016 season with a 3-9 record (1-7 in the Mountain West Conference) that ranked the program last in the Mountain Division. It’s been two years since Utah State has been able to deliver a winning season, but Matt Wells is confident that he can lead the Aggies to an above .500 record in his 5th season at the helm.
Wells will be joined by first year offensive coordinator David Yost. On defense, the Aggies have enlisted the help of a couple of co-defensive coordinators: Frank Maile who is in his second season as defensive coordinator and Kendrick Shaver who is entering his fourth season.
Picking the Aggies on the money line would be very profitable, but most sportsbook players would agree that they’re not going to win. Likewise, the 27-point spread seems to be a bit of a shaky bet so fans might want to stick to the totals line on this one.
The Badgers were able to find plenty of success in 2016. Wisconsin finished the year with an 11-3 record (7-2 in Big Ten play) that allowed the Badgers to finish 1st in the West Division. Wisconsin would go on to face No. 8 Penn State in the Big Ten Championship match, which they ended up losing 31-38. However, the program was able to finish out the season on a high note, picking up a 24-16 win over No. 12 Western Michigan in the Cotton Bowl Classic.
Paul Chryst returns as head coach to lead the program in his third season at the helm. Chryst is joined by 3rd year offensive coordinator Joe Rudolph and first year defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard. Under the Chryst era, the Badgers have kept improving each and every year. It’ll be interesting to see what’s in store for Wisconsin this season.
As things currently stand, college football betting sportsbooks like Ohio State over Wisconsin to win the Big Ten. The Buckeyes are facing -105 odds to win the conference while the Badgers are pegged at +520 – the second best odds of any team in the Big Ten. Wisconsin has a long road ahead of them, but if they want to keep building on their success: they’ll need to beat out Ohio State this season.
