College Football Betting Prepares for Miami Matchup

The Florida State Seminoles will be hosting the Miami Hurricanes this weekend, giving college football betting fans one of the best matchups of the season. The Seminoles have plummeted in the national rankings and a win over No. 13 Miami would put them back on sports betting sites’ radar. Let’s take a look at what kind of chances the odds are giving Florida State this upcoming Saturday.
Miami Hurricanes vs. Florida State Seminoles – Saturday, October 7th
When: 3:30 pm ET
Where: Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee
Stream: Watch ESPN
College Football Betting Odds:
Miami Hurricanes -3 (-115) 47 ½ (-110) -155
Florida State Seminoles +3 (-105) 47 ½ (-110) +135
Unsurprisingly, the Hurricanes are pegged as the odds-on favorite in Week 6. Miami rides into this weekend’s contest sporting a 3-0 unblemished record that ranks them 2nd in the ACC’s Coastal Division, due to only having faced one conference opponent this season. The Hurricanes were actually scheduled to face Florida State earlier this season, in Week 3 to be exact. That contest ended up getting suspended for obvious reasons, forcing the Seminoles to face Miami unranked.
The Hurricanes are coming off a 31-6 win over the Duke Blue Devils. Duke isn’t known for having an elite football team and it’s surprising that Miami didn’t manage to run up the scoreboard a little more. The U is putting up 41.3 points per contest this season, so they definitely had a little firepower left in the bag.
The 3-point spread line makes it clear that NCAA sportsbooks are giving Florida State a fighting chance this Sunday, but the stats don’t really back that claim up. Miami’s offense, as previously mentioned, is putting up good numbers in each outing. The Seminoles on the other hand, are barely averaging 18 points per matchup. It just doesn’t seem likely that the program will deliver a complete turnaround just because they’re facing a rival.
Florida State Seminoles
The Seminoles march into this Week 6 matchup sporting a 1-2 record (1-1 in conference play) that ranks them third in the ACC’s Atlantic Division. Florida State started the season off with two consecutive losses, including 2 games that had to be postponed as well. Nevertheless, the program was able to snap the losing streak this past Saturday when they traveled to Wake Forest to take on the Demon Deacons. The Seminoles ended up coming out on top 26-19 but the fact that they only won by 5-ponits added further fuel to the argument that Florida State is not an elite team.
College football betting fans on this game should definitely stick with Miami. On top of the obvious differences in their ppg averages, Miami are faring much better against that spread line this season. The Hurricanes are 2-1 against the spread in 2017 while the Seminoles are 0-2-1 against the same line. Versus the totals line, Florid Sate is 0-3 while Miami is 1-2.
