Being No. 1 requires a lot work. Each weekend, you’re the team every program in the nation is trying to knock off, the team everybody is trying to measure up against. So being the No. 1 team in the nation is hard enough, but maintaining that ranking is even harder. Nevertheless, Alabama has been able to do just that as they head into Week 5’s action still wielding their No. 1 nationwide ranking. Up next are the Ole Miss Rebels who come into this game unranked and probably unprepared to face the college football betting powerhouse that is the Crimson Tide. What are the sportsbook odds predicting for this weekend?

Ole Miss Rebels
The Ole Miss Rebels ride into this Saturday’s matchup sporting a 2-1 record that ranks 4th in the SEC West rankings. This weekend’s contest will mark the first time this season that the Rebels have faced an SEC opponent, so expect them to drop in the rankings following their contest versus Alabama. It’s unlikely that any players betting on college football would actually take the Rebels over the Crimson Tide, but it would be nice to cash in on those +3000 odds on the money line.
The Rebels kicked off the 2017 season by facing the South Alabama Jaguars. Ole Miss had little difficulty cruising to a 47-27 victory in that Week 1 contest before preparing to face the UT Martin Skyhawks the following week. In their Week 2 matchup, the Rebels once again delivered a decisive result, beating the Skyhawks 45-23 at home. In Week 3, Ole Miss faced off against the California Golden Bears to suffer their first loss of the season, 16-27.
The Rebels are averaging 36 points per game and are allowing 25.7 to their opponent. Yardage wise, Ole Miss is putting up 496.7 and giving up an average of 369 per game. Despite the good statistics, Ole Miss will face the biggest challenge of the year this weekend.
Alabama Crimson Tide
The college football betting favorites are ready to pick up their 5th win of the season. So far, Alabama hasn’t broken sweat once this season. Against the now-ranked No. 3 team in the nation, Bama delivered a 24-7 finish against FSU in week 1. That was the toughest challenge Alabama has faced yet and the Crimson Tide has blown out every other opponent thus far.
In Week 2 against the Fresno State Bulldogs, Alabama cruised to an easy 41-10 win over their opponent. The following week Alabama faced the Colorado State Rams and once again came out on top decisively, 41-23. This past weekend, Bama shutout Vanderbilt 59-0, further proving that they are in fact the team to beat in the nation. It’s not much of a prediction to expect Alabama to come out on top bigly this weekend.
