College Football Betting Likes Wisconsin Over NebraskaPosted by: Mike Davis
The 2017 college football betting season is heading towards Week 6’s action, which means that we’re closing in on the season’s halfway point. We’ve already seen a good amount of blowouts, upsets, and last-minute comebacks to call this season a success. But with a flurry of matchups still in front of us, sports wagering sites know that the best of 2017 is yet to come. And that includes this weekend’s enticing matchups, which should play a deciding hand in this postseason’s playoff landscape.
One contest worth paying special heed to is the matchup between No. 9 Wisconsin and the unranked Nebraska Cornhuskers. At 4-0, the Badgers are the clear cut favorites in this contest. However, college football betting bookmakers are still leaving the slightest room for Nebraska to come in and husk some corn. Take a look.
Wisconsin Badgers vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers – Saturday, October 7th
When: 8:00 pm ET
Where: Memorial Stadium Lincoln, Lincoln
Stream: Watch ESPN
College Football Betting Lines:
Wisconsin Badgers -11½ (-110) 47 (-110) -440
Nebraska Cornhuskers +11½ (-110) 47 (-110) +350
As previously stated, the Badgers are undefeated thus far into the season and have posted a 1-0 record in conference play. Within the Big Ten rankings, in the West division, the Badgers aren’t quite yet pegged as the best team. This is because they’ve only faced one conference opponent this season, while Nebraska has faced 2 – both of whom they’ve defeated. This Saturday’s matchup will allow Wisconsin to display their prowess against a team that hasn’t managed to crack the top rankings nationwide.
The Badgers seem like the best betting choice across all lines. Obviously fans won’t find too much value on a -440 underdog, so what kind of chance does Wisconsin have of covering the spread this weekend? We’ll they’re 2-2 ATS thus far this season, so it’s not exactly a guarantee. You might actually be better off picking the over line on this one, considering that Wisconsin is 3-1 against the totals line in 2017. Both teams also wield respectable offenses.
Pegged as +350 underdogs ahead of this weekend’s game, it’s clear that the college football betting odds think the Cornhuskers can put up a respectable effort. After all, we’ve seen much more lopsided odds all season long. The 11 ½ point prediction does make it seem like sports wagering sites believe the Badgers will come away with it by two scores or more in the final quarter. While this might seem like an alluring bet to make, it should be stated that the Cornhuskers are 2-3 against the spread this season. Maybe they’re running a little low on vegetable oil.
Nebraska hasn’t had much luck on the totals line this season either, posting the exact same record against the over/under line. Nebraska may be 3-2 on the season, but it’s looking like they’ll be at .500 come Sunday. The Cornhuskers are averaging 30.0 points per contest and are giving up an average of 24.4 points per outing.
