The Panthers on the other hand, had an up and down season but their ACC dominance ensured they would win the division. Let’s check on the legal betting odds to see what we can expect out of this one.
Clemson Tigers vs. Pittsburgh Panthers – Saturday, December 1st
When: 8:00 pm ET
Where: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, North Carolina
Stream: ABC Sports
College Football Betting Odds:
Surprisingly, Clemson managed to finish the regular season without conceding a single loss giving them a 12-0 unblemished record. Granted, the Tigers didn’t have the toughest schedule in the nation, seeing as how they didn’t have to face a single top 5 or even a top 10 opponent for that matter. Nevertheless, the Tigers weren’t one to complain about their ease of schedule and ultimately they dominated the competition every step of the way. The question now is whether or not No. 24 Pittsburgh can pose a challenge to the second best team in the nation. Judging by what the college football betting odds are predicting, it looks like bookmakers are leaning towards a no on this one. All in all these two teams don’t face each other very often so it will be interesting to see how this one pans out.
Players to Watch: Trevor Lawrence (2,488 passing yards, 22 TD, 4 INT), Travis Etienne (1,307 rushing yards, 19 TD, 8.0 AVG), and Tee Higgins (766 receiving yards, 8 TD, 49 REC).
The Panthers finished this year’s regular season sporting a 7-5 record. Although that record wasn’t all that impressive, their 6-2 record in conference play ensured that Pitt would win the Coastal Division this time around. But for all their efforts, Pittsburgh now has to face the best team in the conference. Looking over the numbers, it’s clear that Pittsburgh is in for a long night this weekend. As of the current moment, Pittsburgh is averaging 27.8 points per game and giving up that same amount to their opponents. For comparison, Clemson is scoring a whopping 45.7 per game and only giving up 14.0 to their opponents. If those numbers pan out this weekend, the Panthers will surely get blown out in a championship game.
Players to Watch: Kenny Pickett (1,825 passing yards, 12 TD, 5 INT), Qadree Ollison (1,134 rushing yards, 10 TD, 6.4 AVG), and Taysir Mack (489 receiving yards, 1 TD, 21 REC).
