Central Michigan vs. Wisconsin NCAAF Betting Odds, Trends and Picks
Following a 49-0 blowout win at South Florida, the Wisconsin Badgers issued the ultimate statement. Not only are they back among the college football betting. Elite but running back Jonathan Taylor is a bona fide Heisman Trophy candidate. Wisconsin looked sharp, focused, and disciplined in their payout at Tampa. In the same way, the Central Michigan Chippewas earned a week one 38-21 home payout against Albany. Head coach Jim McElwain is back on the sidelines after taking a year off. While his departure from Florida was ugly his return to Central Michigan is a second chance.

Last week was a showcase of what Central Michigan fans can expect from their new head coach. McElwain is an offensive-minded leader and the Chippewas took an immediate liking to his ways. Central Michigan outgained Albany 529-244. However, the Chips are stepping way up in class with a game at Camp Randall against Wisconsin. A win over Albany was mandatory but reveals little. Indeed, how well Central moves the ball on the Wisconsin defense will be a stiffer test. McElwain is a good offensive mind but he lacks the UW weaponry here.
Players to Watch: QB Quinten Dormady (285 YDS, 73% COMP, 7.7 AVG, 3 TD, 0 INT, 164.4 RTG), RB Jonathan Ward (158 YDS, 7.2 YPC, 2 TD, 3 REC, 53 YDS, 17.7 YPC, 0 TD), WR Tyrone Scott (5 REC, 92 YDS, 18.6 YPC, 2 TD), WR Kalil Pimpleton (8 REC, 40 YDS, 5.0 YPC, 1 TD), WR Keonta Nixon (4 REC, 33 YDS, 8.3 YPC, 0 TD)
At the beginning of the season was a quest for Wisconsin to return to glory. Following their 13-1 record in 2017 the Badgers were a trendy playoff pick last year. Instead, they flopped to 8-5 and were sloppy in doing so. Head coach Paul Chryst has gone back to the basics and has a highly polished team. Equally important was the look of the Badgers defense. South Florida was stunned at how they were unable to move the ball in Wisconsin. Namely, Jim Leonhard is emerging as a top defensive coordinator.
Players to Watch: QB Jack Coan (199 YDS, 73% COMP, 7.7 AVG, 2 TD, 0 INT, 162.8 RTG), RB Jonathan Taylor (135 YDS, 8.4 YPC, 2 TD, 2 REC, 48 YDS, 24.0 YPC, 2 TD), RB Nakia Watson (80 YDS, 5.7 YPC, 1 TD), WR Kendric Pryor (4 REC, 40 YDS, 10.0 YPC, 0 TD), WR Quintez Cephus (3 REC, 39 YDS, 13.0 YPC, 0 TD)

In this situation, the Badgers return home as a big odds favorite. Central Michigan is clearly outclassed in this matchup but is a solid contrarian value. As mentioned earlier Wisky struggles to cover big numbers at home.
