Army vs. Michigan NCAAF Betting Odds, Trends and Predictions

Last year Army grew national attention for its second consecutive double digit win season. Head coach Jeff Monken led the Black Knights of the Hudson to their third straight bowl game. Specifically, Army destroyed Houston 70-14 in the Armed Forces Bowl. It has been one of the most remarkable turnarounds in all of NCAA football betting. Now Army has the difficult task of meeting a resurgent and talented Michigan team at the Big House. Gamblers should recall that Army went to Oklahoma last year and took them into overtime. More emphatically the Black Knights should have won.

Army Black Knights
In view of last week’s 14-7 home win over Rice nobody at Army is feeling great. The Black Knights never threatened to cover the 23.5-point spread. Quarterback Kelvin Hopkins saved the day with a 17 yard touchdown pass to Kell Walker with under four minutes to play. Owing to vast roster turnover from graduation does Army have a lot of work to do. This is where Monken can make the difference. In his sixth year at West Point he has earned the trust of fans and gamblers. Indeed, Monken has the proven ability to adjust his team quickly.
Players to Watch: QB Kelvin Hopkins Jr (53 YP, 37% COMP, 6.6 AVG, 1 TD, 134.4 RTG, 80 RUSH, 3.8 YPC, 1 TD), RB Sandon McCoy (70 YDS, 3.5 YPC, 1 TD)
At the onset of the season was considerable hype regarding new Michigan offensive coordinator Josh Gattis. Week one’s rollout was a 40-21 win for the Wolverines as 36 point chalks. Despite the marquee of becoming a spread passing team it was the ground game that shined. Michigan powered to 233 yards rushing on 45 carries. Defensively the Maize and Blue suffocated Middle Tennessee to 2.4 yards per rush. Middle was able to throw for 217 yards and two touchdowns. Fashion a good but not great Michigan win. Now comes the challenge of defending the Army option attack.
Players to Watch: QB Shea Patterson (203 YDS, 58% COMP, 7.0 AVG, 3 TD, 0 INT, 151.6 RTG), QB Dylan McCaffrey (17 YDS, 100% COMP, 8.5 AVG, 171.4 RTG, 42 YRSH, 5.3 YPC, 1 TD), RB Zach Charbonnet (90 YDS, 11.3 YPC) RB Christian Turner (49 YDS, 4.5), WR Tarik Black (4 REC, 80 YDS, 20 YPC, 1 TD), WR Nico Collins (3 REC, 49 YDS, 16.3 YPC, 1 TD), TE Sean McKeon (2 REC, 37 YDS, 18.5 YPC, 1 TD), LB Khaleke Hudson (8 TACKLES), LB Jordan Glasgow (5 TACKLES, 2 SACKS), PK Jake Moody (2-2 FG)

Army Black Knights vs. Michigan Wolverines Betting Picks
As mentioned earlier Army is a pesky legal betting play on the road. In the same way Michigan is a solid home value at the Big House. In view of the unique challenges of the Army blocking and option the Maize and Blue will be challenged. Look for Army to stay within the number.
