The year’s college football betting is officially underway. Sportsbooks fans looking for a good match to place sports bets on should look no further than this Friday’s Army Knights vs. Duke Blue Devils pairing. The Blue Devils are coming off a semi-successful season and will be hoping to make the best out of 2018. Army found plenty of success last season and will be looking to blast into this year’s action by picking off the Blue Devils on the road. Which team are sportsbooks pegging as the favorite?
Army Knights vs. Duke Blue Devils – Friday, August 31st
When: 7:00 pm ET
Where: Wallace Wade Stadium, Durham, North Carolina
Stream: Watch ESPN
College Football Betting Odds:
The Knights found plenty of success despite only throwing the ball 65 times last season. It would be an understatement to say that Army runs a unique offense. However, it’s no understatement to say that they make it work. Last season’s 10-3 record is testament to that. 2017 marked Jeff Monken’s 4th season with Army as well as his most successful outing. The program will be looking to build on that success this Thursday but it looks like the college football betting odds are siding against the Knights. This is somewhat surprising considering that Army lost half as many games as the Blue Devils last season. Nevertheless, you can expect to see the Knights vie for victory via the ground this Friday night.
Players to Watch: Ahmad Bradshaw (285 passing yards, 1 TD, 2 INT), Ahmad Bradshaw (1,746 rushing yards, 14 TD, 7.2 AVG), and Kell Walker (111 passing yards, 0 TD, 5 REC).
Duke Blue Devils
The Blue Devils are coming off a 7-6 season that saw them finish 4th in the Coastal Division of the ACC. All in all the season was a step up from the meager 4-8 record Duke had posted the previous season. Although they didn’t stand a chance of making the ACC Championship, Duke did get invited to the Quick Lane Bowl. There they would face Northern Illinois in a 36-14 winning effort. Daniel Cutlcliffe will reprise his role of head coach marking his 11th season with the program. Cutcliffe will be sticking with Daniel Jones at quarterback, who is returning from a moderately successful season.
Players to Watch: Daniel Jones (2,691 passing yards, 14 TD, 11 INT), Brittain Brown (701 rushing yards, 6 TD, 162 CAR), and TJ Rahming (795 receiving yards, 2 TD, 65 REC).
