Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Ole Miss Rebels NCAAF Betting Picks and game preview

While it was not pretty the Arkansas Razorbacks 20-13 home win over Portland State could have been worse.  Just ask the Ole Miss Rebels.  Mississippi is reeling after a 15-10 week one loss at Memphis with the college football odds.  To be exact any time a SEC team loses to a Group of Five program fans will bring pitchforks and torches.  Ole Miss head coach Matt Luke was already on a warm seat before the season.  Chad Morris of Arkansas arrived as a celebrated passing game wizard.  Clearly the Hogs have a long way to go as well.

Arkansas Razorbacks

Most important of all Arkansas never had a chance to cover the 30.5-point spread last week. In view of the Razorbacks 397 total yards, there were signs of promise. Morris took over a power ground game program and has had to convert it to his pass-oriented scheme. It remains a work in progress. For one thing, Morris has had the challenge of remaking a roster that fits his schemes. In like manner, he took over a program with players recruited for power running. Morris quickly jump-started the SMU program. But a SEC school brings a greater challenge.

Players to Watch: QB Ben Hicks (142 YDS, 48.3% COMP, 4.9 AVG, 0 TD, 0 INT, 89.7 RTG), RB Rakeem Boyd (114 YDS, 6.3 YPC, 1 TD, 3 REC, 22 YDS, 7.3 YPC, 0 TD), WR Treylon Burks (3 REC, 52 YDS, 17.3 AVG, 0 TD), WR Mike Woods (5 REC, 30 YDS, 6.0 AVG, 0 TD)

Ole Miss Rebels

In view of their loss at Memphis, Ole Miss is reviewing everything. Rich Rodriguez is the new offensive coordinator. Rich-Rod has put together prolific offenses wherever he has been. But Saturday was a bad look with only 173 total yards. In particular freshman quarterback, Matt Corral got quite an on the job training experience. His 78.0 quarterback ranking and 1.9 yards per carry are not what Luke and Rodriguez had in mind. Defensively the Rebels were not much better with 364 yards allowed. On the positive, they bent but didn’t break. Mike MacIntyre is a top defensive coordinator.

Players to Watch: QB Matt Corral (93 YDS, 47.4% COMP, 4.9 AVG, 0 TD, 1 INT, 78.0 RTG, 17 YRSH, 1.9 YPC, 0 TD), RB Scottie Phillips (62 YDS, 3.3 YPC, 1 TD), WR Elijah Moore (4 REC, 60 YDS, 15.0 YPC, 0 TD)

Arkansas Razorbacks Vs. Ole Mississippi Rebels Betting Picks

In this situation, we get an Ole Miss team that has damaged confidence. By contrast, Arkansas could offer superior sports betting value. Morris has a team that is slowly catching on to what he wants to do. Last week Ole Miss showed how difficult it is to break in a freshman quarterback in a new offensive scheme.

Score Prediction: Arkansas 27, Ole Miss 17
