Albany Great Danes
The Albany Great Danes turned in a pitiful 4-7 record last season. Included in that performance was a 2-6 record in CAA play. Naturally this placed the Great Danes near the bottom of the totem pole, ranking them 10th in the conference. Naturally, Albany didn’t get invited to any bowl games and they didn’t make the playoffs either. Moving forward, Albany is hopeful that 5th year head coach Greg Gattuso can deliver a turnaround. In his time with the Great Danes, Gattuso has lead them to 2 winning seasons. But since he has a 21-24 record overall, I wouldn’t hold my breath on an Albany turnaround.
Players to Watch: Will Brunson (1,889 passing yards, 9 TD, 10 INT), Karl Mofor (555 rushing yards, 6 TD, 1 F), and Jerod Diggs (476 receiving yards, 1 TD, 30 REC).
The Panthers turned in a disappointing g5-7 record last season that also included a 3-5 record in ACC play. This lead to a poor 5th place ranking in the ACC’s Coastal Division. Subsequently, the Panthers did not get an invite to the conference championship, nor did they receive any invitations to any Bowl Games. Pat Narduzzi will return to lead this program in 2018. This will mark his 5th season at the position. And since he has a 21-17 record with the Panthers, he needs to deliver a turnaround this season. It’s either that or risk being placed on the hot seat.
Players to Watch: Ben DiNucci (1,091 passing yards, 5 TD, 5 INT), Darrin Hall (628 rushing yards, 9 TD, 4.9 AVG), and Rafael Araujo-Lopes (698 receiving yards, 4 TD, 41 REC).
