Iowa State Cyclones

The Cyclones swirl into this Friday’s matchup sporting an 8-4 record that saw them finish 3rd overall in the Big 12. Although they started the season off with a 1-3 record, Iowa State managed to bounce back bigly by posting a 7-1 record in their final 8 games of the season. On top of that, the Cyclones won their final two game of the season and will be looking to use that momentum to upset Iowa State in the 2018 Alamo Bowl. The college football betting odds are favoring Washington State here, which is to be expected when considering the discrepancy between the Cyclones and Cougars’ offense. Currently averaging 26.8 points per game, Iowa State is bound to have difficulty keeping up with an offense that scores 38.3 in Washington State. Defensively things are a bit more even with the Cyclones giving up 22.5 and the Cougars allotting 23.1.

Players to Watch: Brock Purdy (1,935 rushing yards, 16 TD, 5 INT), David Montgomery (1,092 rushing yards, 12 TD, 4.7 AVG), and Hakeem Butler (1,126 receiving yards, 9 TD, 51 REC).

Washington State Cougars

All in all 2018 was a great season for Washington State. They managed to finish 10-2 but narrowly missed out on the Pac-12 Championship Game. Although their 7-2 record in conference play tied them with Washington for 1st place in the North division of the conference, their 28-15 loss to Washington quickly settled that debate. Now Washington State is ready for a comeback and an Alamo Bowl win to redeem their season. They have the better offense and will be turn to Minshew to lead them to a postseason win. Minshew managed to lead the nation in passing yards per game but Iowa State’s passing defense is no pushover.

Players to Watch: Gardner Minshew (4,477 passing yards, 36 TD, 9 INT), James Williams (552 rushing yards, 12 TD, 4.6 AVG), and Dezmon Patmon (740 receiving yards, 4 TD, 55 REC).
