Alabama to Keep the Tide Rolling Against the Aggies

The Alabama Crimson Tide is the online football betting favorite (but what else is new) against the Texas A&M Aggies, in a battle of two teams that beat the Tennessee Volunteers, on Saturday, October 22nd at Bryant–Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. Here are the odds for people betting on college football:
Texas A&M +17 (-110) 58½ (-110) +600
The Aggies defeated the Vols 45-38 in double overtime to improve to 6-0 for the first time since 1994 and climb to the 6th spot in the AP Poll. Starting QB Trevor Knight finished 17 of 34 for 239 yards with two TD passes, and ran for 110 yards on 15 carries for another three scores – including a 1-yard touchdown in the second overtime right before junior defensive back Armani Watts picked off Joshua Dobbs on the following play. The Aggies defense forced seven TOs and recovered five fumbles, their most since 2005 and 1997, respectively. It’s the offense that needs to achieve more consistency; they had more than one opportunity to finish the Vols in regulation, but failed to execute.
A week later, the Tide (7-0) trounced the Volunteers 49-10. ‘Bama QB Jalen Hurts threw 16 of 26 for 143 yards and ran for 132 yards on 12 carries with three scores. Meanwhile, running back Bo Scarborough rushed for 109 yards on 5 carries with one 85-yard TD, and ArDarius Stewart ran for 29 yards on 1 carry and scored one touchdown. Additionally, defensive back Ronnie Harrison returned an interception 58 yards and Eddie Jackson returned a punt 79 yards for a TD each. The Tide leads all Football Bowl Subdivision teams in non-offensive scores with 11.
Beating Tennessee is not the only thing these two colleges have in common, however. As a matter of fact, they are the best the SEC has to offer right now. Even so, Alabama is pretty much in a league of its own. Let me put it like this; the Aggies trying to take on the Tide is like Luke Skywalker taking on the Death Star. Sure, there’s a small possibility of success, but trying to shoot proton torpedoes into a thermal exhaust port that’s only two meters wide is practically impossible. Unfortunately for the Aggies, they’re not used to bulls-eyeing womp rats with a T-16 on Tatooine. Unless they can find a player who’s gifted in the ways of the force, there’s not much hope for Texas A&M. Bottom line, ‘Bama is an online football betting favorite for a reason. For many reasons, actually.
One of those reasons is the defense, which will have a chance to display their fortitude against Trevor Knight’s receiving corps – which includes Christian Kirk and Josh Reynolds. Knight is light on his feet as well, as are Trayveon Williams and Keith Ford. The Aggies’ own defense has a one-man offense-disrupting machine in Myles ‘Before I Sleep’ Garrett. Should Garrett be double-teamed (and he will), then it’s up to guys like Daeshon Hall to take center stage. But here’s another reason that Alabama is the online football betting favorite; their defense can be just as offensive as their offense.
