Akron Zips

The Zips turned in a 7-7 record last season. In addition, Akron finished the year with a 6-2 record in Mid-American Conference play. This lead to a surprising 1st place ranking in the East division of the MAC conference. Naturally, the Zips got an invite to the MAC Championship Game where they faced Toledo. Despite giving it their best, Akron was humbled by their conference rivals 28-45. Following that embarrassing defeat, the Zips would get manhandled once again in their final game of the season. This was in the Boca Raton Bowl where they faced Florida Atlantic in a 3-50 losing effort. Moving forward, Terry Bowden looks to lead his team to a winning record in his 7th season at the helm.

Players to Watch: Thomas Woodson (1,777 passing yards, 14 TD, 9 INT), Manny Morgan (434 rushing yards, 4 TD, 3.7 AVG), and Kwadarrius Smith (726 receiving yards, 7 TD, 34 REC).

Nebraska Cornhuskers

The Cornhuskers husked in a 4-8 record last year. This was undoubtedly a big step back from the 9-4 record the team had turned in the previous year. The team also suffered a step down in conference play, going from a 6-3 record to a 3-6 record in Big Ten play for 2017. This lead to a disappointing 5th place ranking in the West Division and no invite to a conference championship. On top of that, Nebraska didn’t get any invites to any bowl games. As for 2018, Nebraska is hopeful that new head Scott Frost can lead them to a turnaround season.

Players to Watch: Tristan Gebbia (N/A), Devine Ozigbo (493 rushing yards, 3 TD, 3.8 AVG), and Stanley Morgan Jr. (986 receiving yards, 10 TD, 61 REC).
