Sportsbook Betting Lines:

Alabama Crimson Tide -3 (-110)     47 (-110)         -152

Clemson Tigers +3 (-110)      47 (-110)         +132

Alabama Crimson Tide

The Crimson Tide turned in a near perfect 11-1 record during this year’s regular season. Surprisingly, the Crimson Tide’s first loss of the season came to No. 6 Auburn in the Iron Bowl, just this past month. It was surprising to see Alabama fall 14-26 to the Tigers, but that loss ultimately cost Alabama a ticket to this year’s SEC Championship game. The Tide posted a 7-1 record in SEC play this season to finish 2nd overall in the SEC West. On account of last year’s championship, which saw Clemson upend the defending national champions, the Crimson Tide are now presented with an opportunity to return the favor. By the looks of it, the parlay payout odds are predicting that Bama will get the sportsbook job done come New Year’s.

Luckily for Alabama, they have a slight statistical advantage in this matchup. Since the Crimson Tide boasts one of the best defensive units in the nation, it comes as no surprise that they have the better defense in this matchup. Specifically, the Crimson Tide is allotting 11.5 points while Clemson give up slightly more with 12.8. Furthermore, Alabama takes the advantage on offense as well. At the current time, Bama is averaging 39.1 offensively while Clemson is putting up 35.4 themselves. If things turn out the same in this matchup, there’s no question that Bama will win the 2018 Sugar Bowl over the best program in the nation.

Clemson Tigers

The Tigers turned in a brilliant 12-1 record this season. Additionally, Clemson delivered a 7-1 performance in ACC play. This ultimately led to a 1st place finish in the ACC – Atlantic division. Naturally, this earned the 2017 Tigers a draw into the ACC’s championship match. Once there, Clemson would face No. 7 Miami in the conference title match. Although the Hurricanes posed a sizable threat, the Tigers sprinted past Miami 38-3. With that win, the Tigers finished their regular season with a 6 game win streak that, in the end, convinced the NCAA committee that they are in fact the best program in the nation. We’ll have to see if Clemson can uphold that title against Bama.

Since Clemson is pegged as an underdog in this matchup, sportsbook players can find plenty of value in taking the Tigers straight up. The spread line favors the Tigers as well since Bama is 5-7 ATS while the Tigers are 8-4-1 against the spread.
