College Football Sportsbook Betting Lines:
Louisville Cardinals -7 (EV) 63 (-110) -265
Mississippi State Bulldogs +7 (-120) 63 (-110) +225
The Cardinals finished the 2017 college football sportsbook betting regular season with an 8-4 record. Integral to that 8-4 record is a 4-4 record in ACC play that saw the Cardinals tie for the No. 3 spot in the conference’s Atlantic Division. With most of their success coming outside of the ACC, it’s no surprise to see Louisville fall short of the conference’s championship match. Nevertheless, Louisville still performed well enough this season to garner an invitation to the 2017 TaxSlayer Bowl. Furthermore, the Cardinals must have done something right this season to merit such a heavy favoritism on the sports betting line. What will each team’s numbers have to say about this matchup?
The numbers are in and they unquestionably paint the Cardinals as the favorite. Although, there’s no denying that the Bulldogs have the statistical advantage on defense. At the present time, the Cardinals are giving up 27.1 points on defense, which is notably higher than the 20.4 Mississippi State allots. However, Louisville has a similar advantage on offense since they are scoring 39.0 per game while their opponent in the TaxSlayer Bowl is only putting up 32.1. All in all, both of these teams are pretty evenly matched. This matchup should prove to be one of the better Bowl Games of 2017.
Mississippi State Bulldogs
The Bulldogs finished the regular season with an 8-4 record as well. Additionally, Mississippi State posted a 4-4 record in conference play which saw the Bulldogs finish 4th in the SEC – West. Overall, Mississippi St. found plenty of success early on in the season. However, the program was not able to maintain that success towards the end of the season since they finished 2017 with a 2-2 record in their last 4 matches. The last time the Bulldogs stepped to the field was in a 31-28 losing effort to Ole Miss.
There’s not much value to be had in taking Louisville straight up. Nevertheless, both of these teams match up pretty well so a small bet on the Bulldogs money line could be a wise prediction. Fans are going to want to shy away from taking the Cardinals on the spread in this matchup because the Cards are 4-7-1 against the spread this season. Comparatively, the Bulldogs are 7-5 ATS in 2017.
