The biggest college basketball betting takeaway from the above list is that the Blue Devils are the best team in the nation, at least according to the AP. This ranking marked the second consecutive season that Duke opened as the preseason No. 1, so it’ll be interesting to see if they can take that nod further than they did last year. Additionally, 2017 marks the 9th time in program history that the Blue Devils have been ranked No. 1 in the preseason. Lastly, this was the same slot that the coaches’ preseason poll pegged the Blue Devils as so it’s safe to say that a most of the nation shares this sentiment as well.

To be exact, the Blue Devils received more than half (33) of the possible 65 1st-place votes. This is in spite of the fact that, in all likelihood, Coach K will be starting 4 true freshman come opening day. On top of that, Krzyzewski will have to find somebody to replace last year’s leading-scorer Luke Kennard, an invaluable big man veteran Amile Jefferson. Senior Grayson Allen is the most notable tool Coach K will have returning this year. However, given Allen’s notoriety for tripping, it might not be that great of an asset.
