The Ducks have been very dominant in the tournament so far. While they’re 73-54 win over the 13th seed UC Irvine Anteaters wasn’t really a shock, they’re dominant 72-54 manhandling of Wisconsin certainly was. Coming off such a massive outing over a higher-ranked opponent, Oregon should have the confidence to walk into the arena tonight. On top of that, the Ducks have the numbers to go toe to toe against Virginia. This is because they’re scoring 70.6 points per game to Virginia 71.6 and are allotting 54.0 to their opponent’s while the Cavaliers give up 53.5. Nevertheless, the college basketball betting odds are expecting a dominant win from Virginia seeing as how the spread is set at 8 ½.
However, seeing how tight the stats are, and seeing as how these two are the hottest teams in the country, there’s no question this one will go down to the wire. After all, Oregon is 10-0 both SU and ATS in their last 10 games and Virginia is 11-1 SU in their last 12.
Players to Watch: Bol Bol (21.0 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 1.0 apg), Payton Pritchard (13.0 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 4.6 apg), and Louis King (12.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.3 apg).
The Cavs have dominated the competition so far this tournament, which is not surprising one bit. Their first round matchup resulted in a 71-56 win over Gardner-Webb. Afterwards Virginia slaughtered Oklahoma 63-51, earning a ticket to this evening’s matchup. All in all it’s clear that the bookmakers fully expect Virginia to come out on top here. This is evident because the money line is so tilted and the spread line is pretty lopsided for a Sweet Sixteen matchup. However, at the end of the day, all the pressure is on Virginia here. They’re coming off a tremendous season and are ubiquitously considered a better team than Oregon. But does that mean that fans should take them this evening?
Players to Watch: De’Andre Hunter (15.2 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.0 apg), Kyle Guy (15.1 ppg, 4.4. rpg, 2.1 apg), and Ty Jerome (13.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 5.3 apg).
