Sportsbook players have waited long enough and now that Wednesday has rolled around bettors can officially celebrate as the March Madness betting season is finally here. Tuesday brings with it the first two games of the First Four, but it also brings some heated matchups outside of the NCAA Tournament. Since March Madness is only offering two contests this Tuesday night, the most diehard college basketball betting fans can turn their attention to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) or even the Collegeinsider.com Tournament (CIT).
Latest News for those Betting NCAA Basketball
Although not as popular as the NCAA Tournament, the NIT Tournament is still relatively well known. Both the NIT and March Madness are organized by the NCAA, with the NIT offering postseason play to those teams that failed to qualify for the Big Dance.
Tuesday will feature two contests from the NIT, one between UNC Greensboro and Syracuse and the other between Mississippi and Monmouth. Both contests will be tipping off at the same time, but the contest involving Syracuse involves much more ludicrous odds. Take a look.
UNC Greensboro vs. Syracuse – Wednesday, March 15th
When: 7:00 pm ET

NCAA Basketball Championship Line:
UNC Greensboro Spartans +13 (-110) 149 (-110) +700
Syracuse Orange -13 (-110) 149 (-110) -1100
The Orange are hoping that they’ll find enough success in the NIT to match last year’s record of 23-14 and as the No. 1 seed in the NIT, Syracuse stands a very good chance of doing so. The Orange enter the first round of the NIT with an 18-14 record, and after going 10-8 in ACC play, Syracuse was able to finish 9th in the conference. In the ACC Tournament, the Orange were eliminated by No. 9 Miami in the second round.
The betting NCAA basketball favorites will turn to Andrew White III to lead them in Tuesday night’s matchup. White is currently averaging 18.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per contest. Second in points for the Orange is Tyler Lydon who is netting 13.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per contest.
UNC Greensboro Spartans
After going 15-19 in the 2015-16 season, the Spartans were hopeful that they could turn things around. At 25-9, it’s safe to say that UNC Greensboro has accomplished their goal. In addition, the Spartans posted a 14-4 play in SoCon play, tying Greensboro for a first place finish in the conference with East Tennessee State. In the SoCon Tournament, the Spartans were able to advance to the finals where they lost to East Tennessee State 74-79.
The Spartans enter this matchup as vast sportsbook underdogs but are hopeful that Francis Alonso will be able to lead them to an upset victory. Alonso is putting up 15.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per outing. Second in points for Greensboro is Diante Baldwin who is averaging 13.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per contest.
