The Tigers pounce into this evening’s contest with a 16-3 record that ranks them 3rd in the ACC. Overall; Clemson has posted a 5-2 conference record this season, which has led to their current record. Specifically, Clemson is tied with the Duke Blue Devils for the No. 3 spot in the conference. Despite having a top of the conference ranking, Clemson has hit a bit of a rough patch as of late. The Tigers are 2-2 in their last four, which includes a loss to the unranked North Carolina State Wolfpack. No doubt that caused a slight dip in the national rankings for Clemson, but the Tigers should be able to rebound moving forward. In fact, the program already got started on that rebound by picking up a 67-58 win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish a few days back. But considering the steep teaser sports betting odds the Tigers are facing, should bettors take Clemson on the upset line?
Quite honestly, it’s difficult to say. As far as the statistical matchup, each side has a leg up over the other. On offense, Clemson is at an advantage since they’re scoring 77.0 points to Virginia’s 69.6. However, on the defensive side of things, Clemson is at a disadvantage. Specifically, the Tigers allot 65.2 points, which is higher than the 52.4 points Virginia gives up.
The Cavaliers, currently ranked No. 2 in the nation, enter this evening’s matchup sporting an 18-1 record that ranks them as the best team in the ACC. So far this season, Virginia has posted an unblemished 7-0 record in conference play. A win over Clemson this evening would give the Cavs quite a comfy lead atop the ACC. That said, beating Clemson is no walk in the park and the Cavaliers will need a valiant effort to get the job done. But by the looks of it, the top sportsbooks don’t think Virginia will have a problem getting the job done this evening. So, what basketball bets should players place on this evening’s Clemson Tigers vs. Virginia Cavaliers matchup?
The odds available on Clemson makes it tempting to back them on the money line. There’s not a great chance of success, but a small bet is always worth it. Likewise, Virginia has a 12-4 record against the spread so taking them on that line is a good option as well.
