Cardinals Vying to Keep NCAAB Sportsbook Win Steak Alive

Louisville vs Clemson

There’s no doubting the Clemson Tigers’ prowess on the football field. After all, the Tigers took care of last year’s NCAAF champions to claim the title for themselves this year. However, on the basketball court Clemson doesn’t demand the same quite of respect as they do on the gridiron. The Tigers aren’t the worst basketball team in the nation, but they’re not elite enough to crack the top 25. Unfortunately for Clemson, this NCAA basketball betting Thursday, the Tigers will be tasked with facing a team that does rank as one of the best 25 teams in the nation: the Louisville Cardinals.

Thursday night, Clemson will have to make the journey to Kentucky to face off against No. 12 Louisville at the KFC Yum! Center, the tastiest sports arena in the nation. Normally on a football betting line the Tigers would be pegged as the heavy favorite. But since this contest will be played on hard wood instead of grass, NCAA basketball betting lines might opine something different about Clemson.

Clemson Tigers           +6½ (-110)      138½ (-110)    +235

Louisville Cardinals -6½ (-110)          138½ (-110)    -295

As usual, the bookies think that your bet on college basketball games should go towards the nationally ranked team. Louisville will be heading into this matchup with a 15-3 record that includes a 3-2 record in conference play. Louisville currently ranks 5th in the ACC. Additionally, the Cardinals will be coming into this bout with a healthy dose of confidence after winning their last three contests consecutively. The Cardinals are coming off a season in which they served a self-imposed ban on the postseason due to an NCAA investigation involving recruits hiring escorts between the years of 2010-2014. None of the Cardinals current players are involved in the scandal and Louisville is looking forward to competing in the postseason once more. The Cardinals are led by 15th year head coach Rick Pitino.

Unlike Louisville who enters this bout on a winning streak, the Tigers are coming into this game bathed in gloom after losing their last 4 games and NCAAB sportsbooks are more than confident that that streak will be extended to 5. Clemson currently ranks 14th in the ACC thanks to their 11-6 record including 1-4 in conference play. The Tigers are led by 7th-year head coach Brad Brownell who is just 6 wins shy of matching last year’s 17-14 record. Many NCAA basketball betting fans would agree that this is shaping up to be Brownell’s best year as Clemson’s head coach and an upset win over nationally ranked Louisville would go a long way to drive that sentiment home.

Even though NCAAB sportsbooks are pegging the Cardinals as the heavy favorite, some critics still think that the line is a tad bit too low considering how well Louisville has been playing throughout their win streak, as well as how poorly the Tigers have been competing in their losing streak.
