We’ve got a couple of first timers in this weekend’s Final Four matches and Texas Tech is one of them. But the Red Raiders run so far hasn’t just been historic, it’s been straight up mind boggling. In the Sweet Sixteen round, Texas Tech was matched up against second-seeded Michigan in a game most college basketball betting fans had them losing. But in the end, the Red Raiders didn’t just upset Michigan, they straight up demolished them 63-44. Similarly, in the Elite Eight round, Texas Tech delivered a brutal 75-69 over the No. 1 seed Gonzaga. Now they look to deliver similar results in a game in which they’re once again pegged as the underdog.

Notwithstanding Texas Tech’s eye-raising run, the college basketball betting odds are still sticking with Michigan State here. Albeit, the favoritism is rather small in this case. All things considered, this makes either side a lucrative straight up option. After all, the vig is relatively low in this case. With that in mind, it’s clear that the best bets here will be off the money line.

However, this game is a bit of a tossup and there’s not much of a guarantee that either side will come out on top. Being that that is the case, fans might be better off taking the UNDER on the TOTALs.

Auburn vs. Virginia Basketball – Saturday, April 6th

Like Texas Tech, Auburn is also making their debut. But unlike the Red Raiders, the Tigers are facing some pretty lopsided odds here. This is a bit surprising since Auburn has been very dominant in tournament play so far. Their Second Round matchup against Kansas ended decisively 89-75. Afterwards Auburn delivered another lopsided finish against No. 1 seed UNC 97-80. And in the Elite Eight, Auburn managed to defeat Kentucky handily 77-71. So if Auburn was able to do all that, shouldn’t they be able to upset Virginia this weekend?

It’s undoubtedly clear that the odds don’t feel that way. Instead they’re pegging Virginia has a heavy favorite and giving the Cavs a 5 ½ point spread to cover. Clearly the odds believe that Virginia’s top rated defense will propel them to success here. However, Auburn is putting up a whopping 80.1 points per game in this contest. On top of that, the Tigers haven’t had trouble scoring on the other top defenses in the tournament.

Having said that, it’s clear that taking Auburn straight up could pay off bigly. But is it the best bet to make? All in all, the TOTALs and taking Auburn on the spread might be safe picks.
