Rockets Vying for Much-Needed Online Betting NBA Rebound

Rockets vs Kings

In early January, the Houston Rockets were all the online betting NBA craze. From December 1st to January 10th, the Rockets delivered a 20-2 record that painted them as one of the best teams in the league. But since that surprising sportsbook run, Houston has hit a slump and has gone 4-7, forcing bettors to question whether or not picking the Rockets is a wise idea.

Counted within those 7 losses are defeats to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Miami Heat, and the Milwaukee Bucks. Neither of those teams are playoff competitors, with the Heat and Timberwolves’ playoff hopes all but deceased. So many losses to bottom-ranking teams brings into question the Rockets’ durability and ability to make a deep run in the playoffs – something they weren’t able to accomplish last season.

During last year’s playoffs, the Rockets were unable to advance past the first round where they faced the Golden State Warriors. Although a loss to one of the best teams in NBA history isn’t something to get hung up on, Houston will nevertheless be looking for a better performance this time around. But in order to do so, the Rockets must first find a way to pull themselves out of this slump.

The best way for Houston to rebound is by picking up an easy win against the lowly Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night. Luckily enough for the Rockets, they’ll be enjoying home field advantage as the Kings make the trip to the Toyota Center Tuesday evening. Let’s check on the betting odds NBA to see what the bookies have to say about this pairing.

Houston Rockets            -11 ½  (-110)     224 ½ (-110)   -900

Sacramento Kings          +11 ½ (-110)    224 ½ (-110)   +600

Considering that the Rockets are a top-three contender in the West, while the Kings rank 10th in the same conference, seeing the sportsbooks come out in favor of Houston should come as no surprise.

The Kings, who most recently lost to the low-ranking 76ers 122-119, will be looking to salvage as best they can what has been another extremely disappointing season in a long line of unchanging failures. Sacramento hasn’t qualified for the postseason in nearly a decade and the favorable odds in the NBA Draft lottery hasn’t been enough to help the Kings rebuild. During that tenure, the Kings have failed to post a winning online betting NBA season and 2017 will be no exception.

The Kings are led unsuccessfully by DeMarcus Cousins and his average of 28.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. Ty Lawson leads the Kings in assists with 4.4 per game and is also averaging 8.8 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. Rudy Gay is Sacramento’s 2nd point’s leader with his average of 18.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game.

The Rockets are coming into this contest as the sportsbook favorites thanks to the impressive season that the Beard has been delivering. James Harden comes into this game with an average of 28.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 11.5 assists per game (Harden leads Houston in all 3 categories). Eric Gordon is Houston’s 2nd point’s leader who is averaging 17.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. Ryan Anderson should also be making an impact for the Rockets Tuesday night with his average of 14 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
