Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder are coming off a moderately successful 48-34 season. Although they were able to make the playoffs, the season was a rather big disappointment. In the 2017 offseason, OKC went out of their way to acquire Paul George and Carmelo Anthony. The idea was that these two veteran cats would be enough to tip OKC over the top and allow them to make a deep playoff push. Considering they were eliminated in the First Round, it’s safe to say that things didn’t exactly pan out. During this past offseason, Carmelo Anthony decided to go join James Harden in Houston. The most likely scenario is that Melo didn’t exactly enjoy playing alongside Westbrook. On the other hand, despite rumors that he was joining the LA Lakers, Paul George decided to re-sign with the Thunder. We’ll have to see what kind of success George and Westbrook can enjoy in their second season together.

Players to Watch: Russell Westbrook (25.4 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 10.3 apg), Paul George (21.9 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 3.3 apg), and Steven Adams (10.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.5 apg).

Golden State Warriors

There’s really not much that needs to be said about Golden State. The Warriors entered last year’s season as NBA sportsbook favorites to win the title and they did just that, sweeping LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. Heading into this year’s season, Golden State still has their phenomenal lineup consisting of Curry, Durant, Thompson, and Green, which is inarguably the best lineup in pro basketball. However, the West has gotten a makeover and are much more dangerous this time around. The Rockets were no pushover last season and are expected to be even better. On top of that, LeBron is now in Los Angeles and will be looking to cause some problems for Golden State.

Players to Watch: Stephen Curry (26.4 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 6.1 apg), Kevin Durant (26.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 5.4 apg), and Klay Thompson (20.0 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.5 apg).
