Los Angeles Lakers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Online NBA Betting Preview
Posted by: Anthony Yaylor
After the Los Angeles Lakers added Isaiah Thomas to their roster, online NBA betting players were expecting the team to show some improvements. Instead, we’ve witnessed Los Angeles snap a 4-game win streak by conceding back-to-back losses. The most recent of which was their 117-139 blowout to the New Orleans Pelicans that saw several players, and even head coach Luke Walton, get ejected. In this evening’s Los Angeles Lakers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves matchup, the Lakers will have an opportunity to deliver a rebound. Let’s take a look at what the NBA parlay picks and odds have to say about Los Angeles’ chances on the road this evening.

Minnesota Timberwolves 224 (-110) -600
Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers, despite LaVar Ball’s preseason promises, are sitting on a 23-33 record that ranks them as the 3rd best team in the Pacific Division. However, Los Angeles currently ranks 11th in the Western Conference, well out of the reach of playoff contention. Interestingly enough, the New Orleans Pelicans are currently the No. 8 seed in the West. Had the Lakers won the other night, LA might have come one step closer to making the postseason cut. Instead, Los Angeles steadily declined in the conference rankings. As for this evening’s contest, it’s hard to imagine the Lakers performing well in back-to-back road games. In other words, stick to the online NBA betting favorite in tonight’s Los Angeles Lakers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves contest.
Obviously there’s not much value in backing Minnesota straight up, so which way should players bet this evening? Considering that Minnesota has a 32-27-1 record against the totals line, it seems like the over is the best way to go this evening. Neither team has a great record against the spread so you should probably shy away from that line as well.
The Timberwolves have had no problem finding success this year as they’re currently sitting on a 35-25 record. That impressive tally on the season ranks Minnesota No. 1 in the Northwest Division and 4th overall in the Western Conference. The Houston Rockets have once again taken the lead in the West and the T-Wolves are now 10 ½ games behind Houston. Since Minnesota is 1-3 in their last 4 games, the Timberwolves will need to find better consistency in the final stretch of the season. NBA sportsbooks are siding heavily with the Timberwolves, which isn’t surprising all things considered. How big of a statistical advantage will Minnesota enjoy on home court this evening?
Surprisingly, the Timberwolves aren’t that much better than the Lakers, at least statistically speaking. For starters, Minnesota is barely beating Los Angeles in points per game. Right now the Timberwolves are scoring 109.6 per game while the Lakers are draining 107.2 each night. Defensively it’s a similar story; Minnesota allows 106.7 while the Lakers allot 110.1 to their opponent. While these numbers suggest that Los Angeles will be able to keep up with Minnesota this evening, there’s no way they’ll be able to pull off the upset. Not riding a 2-game losing streak and definitely not after playing two back-to-back road games.
