Lakers vs. Spurs NBA Betting Online Preview, Analysis, and Expert Picks

Posted by: Anthony Yaylor

One of the biggest NBA betting online surprises of the week came from the Los Angeles Lakers. Earlier this week, the Lakers faced the Sacramento Kings and the NBA sportsbook odds weren’t giving them much of a shot. But much to everyone’s surprise, Los Angeles came out on top 99-86. That contest marked the second straight upset Lonzo Ball & Co. delivered this week. And ahead of this evening’s San Antonio Spurs vs. Los Angeles Lakers matchup, everyone is wondering if they can keep this streak alive. Let’s take a look at some NBA parlay picks players can make on this night’s West Coast paring.

San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs enter this evening’s contest sporting a 28-14 record that ranks them 2nd in the Southwest Division behind the 29-11 Houston Rockets. Furthermore, with that record, the Spurs find themselves ranked 3rd overall in the Western Conference. The Golden State Warriors and Rockets are locked in a heated battle for the lead in the West, with the Spurs being 5-games behind the conference-leading Warriors.

In their last 6 games, San Antonio is 3-3. Specifically, during that time, the Spurs have followed each of their wins with a lone loss. And considering that the Spurs are coming off a win, it wouldn’t be misguided to assume they fall short this evening. Especially against a team that’s coming in with a bit of momentum, like the Lakers will be this NBA betting online evening.

The odds have yet to be published for this matchup, but early estimates have the Spurs coming in as the favorite. However, given San Antonio’s recent struggles, the Spurs aren’t being favored that heavily. This creates some great action on both sides. If you feel San Antonio is a superior team any night of the year, you can rake in some nice action by backing the Spurs straight up. If however, you feel that the present circumstances favor Lonzo, you should take the upset line in this evening’s San Antonio Spurs vs. Los Angeles Lakers contest.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers leap into this late-night pairing flashing a disappointing 13-27 record that ranks LA 4th in the Pacific Division. Additionally, Los Angeles ranks penultimate in the Western Conference. All in all, the Lakers have struggled to find consistency this season. No doubt this inconsistency is rooted in Lonzo Ball’s father, LaVar, inability to keep his mouth closed. Despite the fact that LaVar promised to try to keep his comments down a few months ago, we’re seeing an incessant need to disrupt the Lakers’ locker room.

Specifically, LaVar made some comments stating that Lakers’ players no longer wanted to play for Luke Walton. This caused a rift in the locker room, with players feeling that they had to pick between their head coach and the father of one of their teammates. And to add on, many online sportsbook pundits feel that LaVar is just restating sentiments whispered to him by Lonzo. If this were the case, then things are on the verge of going south in the Lakers’ organization.

In the end, no one really wants to cover LaVar. But ESPN has found  a nice source of crazy, clickbait titles. And knowing ESPN, they’re not about to let their golden goose go any time soon.
