Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder: Betting on Basketball Odds – 03/06/18Posted by: Mike Davis
Sportsbook players betting on basketball games this evening have a tough Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder matchup to predict. The Rockets are doing all they can to hold on to their slim lead at the top of the Western Conference. Meanwhile, Oklahoma City is earnestly trying to remain above the fated 8th seed in the conference. Let’s take a look at what the 4 team parlay odds are predicting for tonight’s matchup.
Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder – Tuesday, March 6th
When: 8:00 pm ET
Where: Chesapeake Energy Arena, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Stream: Drama on TNT, NBA League Pass
Betting on Basketball Odds:
Houston Rockets -4 (-110) 222 ½ (-110) -185
Oklahoma City Thunder +4 (-110) 222 ½ (-110) +160
Behind James Harden’s MVP-caliber season, the Houston Rockets lead the Western Conference with their 49-13 record. It’s not easy to beat out the Golden State Warriors for the lead in the West. But nevertheless, Houston currently owns a ½ game lead over the Warriors. Needless to say, Houston will be looking that lead with a win over the Thunder this evening. Interestingly enough, this evening’s matchup will mark the second time these two teams have crossed paths this season. But with the Thunder coming out on top the first time 112-107, should players betting on basketball tonight wager against Houston? Perhaps a look at both teams’ stats will help answer that question.
As was to be expected, the Rockets come into this game with the better offense. Right now the Rockets have the 2nd best scoring offense in the NBA. For comparison; Oklahoma City ranks 12th in points scored per game. But on the other hand, the Thunder’s 8th ranked defense is superior to Houston’s 13th ranked unit. All in all, players will likely want to give the advantage to Harden, Clint Capela, and Chris Paul this evening.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Russell Westbrook may not be putting up a triple-double every other night but he still leads the Thunder in points, rebounds, and assists. On the other hand, Paul George did manage to beat Westbrook out in steals per game. So at the very least Westbrook is getting some help on defense. But it goes without saying that the Thunder’s current 37-28 record is a letdown for their fanbase. When Oklahoma City brought in Paul George and Carmelo Anthony in during the offseason, many top sportsbook players were expecting a surge out of the Thunder. Instead, we’ve seen a trio that quite can’t fit together.
Despite their miscommunications, the evening’s betting odds are still giving the Thunder a fighting chance this evening. As aforementioned, OKC already beat Houston once this season. So it wouldn’t be unfathomable for them to do it again, especially on home court. That said, the Thunder are coming off a loss and will probably come in with low spirits. Compared to the Rockets’ 15-game win streak, and it’s pretty clear who bettors should side with this evening.
