Houston Rockets Betting

The Houston Rockets have been steady despite hiccups against sub. 500 teams. Their victories against the Denver Nuggets, 130-104, and the Philadelphia 76ers, 118-08, are impressive but losses to the New Orleans Pelicans, 127-112, and the starless Golden State Warriors, 116-104, could have been avoided if they only played to their full strength.

Players to Watch: James Harden (38.4 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 7.5 APG)

Russell Westbrook (24.1 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 7.0 APG)

Clint Capela (14.5 PPG, 14.2 RPG, 1.2 APG)

Oklahoma City Thunder Betting

OKC has put itself in a playoff hunt after winning 16 of their last 22 games. Second-year guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been fantastic, leading his team in scoring and doing an outstanding job defensively as well. Dennis Schroder, Danilo Gallinari and Chris Paul have also been producing gaudy numbers in OKC’s hot run.

Players to Watch: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (19.8 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 2.8 APG)

Dennis Schroder (18.6 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 3.7 APG)

Danilo Gallinari (18.0 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.2 APG)

Houston Rockets vs Oklahoma City Thunder Betting Picks

The Houston Rockets won their first meeting this season against the Thunder, 116-112. In the game, Russell Westbrook had a triple-double with 21 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists to support James Harden’s 40 points. Westbrook not suiting up in the game has definitely influenced online bookmakers to put the Rockets just a slight spread and Moneyline favorite over the Thunder.

Moneyline: The Thunder are 3-1 in their last four home games. This is a different OKC team the Rockets played last October 28. And because Westbrook is expected to sit out, that convinced me more to place my bet on the Thunder to win straight up.

ATS: The Thunder have been on a roll covering the spread, racking up 9 ATS wins in their last 10 games. Coming as a 2.5-point underdog against the Westbrook-less Rockets, OKC appears to be a solid pick to cover the spread.

TOTALs: The total opened at 222.5 points and I picked UNDER. The Rockets are the best offensive team in the league at 119.37 points per game. However, I have seen the Thunder contained another offensive juggernaut, the Dallas Mavericks, way below their scoring average. I feel OKC’s defense will prevail in this game.

Score Prediction: 109 – 100 Thunder
