Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets didn’t win Game 2 by containing the Golden State Warriors but by outscoring them. This is the superior strategy, since the Warriors’ vast talents make them a near unstoppable threat. So instead of focusing your energy and deterring their offense, you’ll be better off by focusing on getting your own offense going. This is what we saw out of Houston in Game 2. While Kevin Durant led the way for Golden State with 38 points on the night, 3 different players from the Rockets combined to ensure the Warriors’ defeat. James Harden unsurprisingly led the way with 27-points on the night. Eric Gordon followed up on Harden’s success by scoring 27 despite coming off of the bench. PJ Tucker also had a big night as he delivered 22 points for the club. If the Rockets can get that much contribution out of their players once again, they should be able to deliver an upset on the road versus Golden State.

Players to Watch: James Harden (29.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 7.0 apg), Chris Paul (21.4 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 6.1 apg), and Eric Gordon (14.3 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.6 apg).

Golden State Warriors

The Warriors didn’t just lose Game 2, they lost by 22 points. Moving forward, Golden State needs to get more of their offense involved. Apart from Durant’s 38 point tally on the night, no other player from the Warriors scored more than 20. Moreover, only one starter, Stephen Curry, was able to break double digits. This is a catastrophe from the NBA’s supposed best offense. Luckily for Golden State, they’ll be able to rebound on their home court this upcoming Sunday night.

Players to Watch: Kevin Durant (29.6 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 4.3 apg), Stephen Curry (22.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 4.8 apg), and Klay Thompson (20.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.3 apg).
