Dallas Mavericks vs Houston Rockets 1/31/2020 – Two of the league’s most explosive scoring teams will go head-to-head once again on Friday at the Toyota Center. The Dallas Mavericks have been shaky over their last five games and will try to build some consistency with a win in Houston. That can also be said on the Rockets, who are 1-2 in their last three games. Sports betting lines are out early Friday, and the Rockets opened as the overwhelming home favorites at -9.

The Mavs suffered their third loss in five games against the Phoenix Suns, 133-105, on Tuesday. However, the biggest news was the ankle injury Luka Doncic suffered during practice on Thursday. The team’s leading scorer will undergo an MRI on Friday and could miss a handful of games due to the injury. That leaves Kristaps Porzingis as the primary option for the team while Doncis is out.

Players to Watch: Kristaps Porzingis (16.8 PPG, 8.9 RPG, 1.4 APG)

Tim Hardaway Jr. (14.1 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 1.6 APG)

Seth Curry (10.6 PPG, 2.0 RPG, 1.8 APG)

Even without James Harden and Russell Westbrook, the Rockets still came up with a big win against Utah, thanks to a 50-game explosion from Eric Gordon. In the next game though, Houston fell flat against the Portland Trail Blazers as Damian Lillard recorded a monster triple-double with 36 points, 10 rebounds and 11 boards. Westbrook tallied 39 points, 10 boards and 6 assists but his effort is not enough for the Rockets to topple the Blazers, 112-125.

Players to Watch: James Harden (36.7 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 7.2 APG)

Russell Westbrook (26.3 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 7.3 APG)

Eric Gordon (15.9 PPG, 2.1 RPG, 1.4 APG)

Dallas Mavericks vs Houston Rockets Betting Picks

The Mavericks are 6-4 in their last 10 games, the Rockets are a mediocre 4-6. Still, with Harden and Westbrook returning to the starting lineup, the Rockets should be a popular pick among NBA betting punters, more so if Luka Doncic will be out for a quite number of games.

Moneyline: Pick the Rockets at -450. The smart money is on Houston with their two stars back in the fold. The Mavs will heavily rely on Kristaps Porzingis now and I don’t think they have enough firepower to weather the Rockets’ double-barrel offense of Harden and Westbrook.

ATS: Back the Rockets to cover the 9-point spread. I expect Houston to run up the score and win by double-digits. The Mavs just don’t have the weapons to go toe-to-toe with the Rockets.

TOTALs: Pick the UNDER at 238.5 points. The Rockets are going to score buckets, but I don’t know if the Mavs can score over 110 points without their primary scorer and playmaker.

Score Prediction: 120 – 106 Rockets
