Cleveland Cavaliers vs Toronto Raptors 12/31/2019 – The Cleveland Cavaliers will visit the Toronto Raptors for their second meeting this season at Scotiabank Arena. With Pascal Siakam, Marc Gasol and Norman Powell still nursing injuries on the sidelines, the Raptors will be fielding a patchwork lineup led by veteran guards Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet. The Raptors will be carrying a 9.5-point handicap as the overwhelming home favorite in the match but they should be wary of the Cavs, who are playing competitive basketball as of late.

The Cavaliers are enjoying their best stretch of the season, winning four of their last five games. Their latest win against the Minnesota Timberwolves, 94-88, saw Tristan Thompson racking up a double-double game with 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Collin Sexton and Darius Garland each chipped in with 18 markers.

Players to Watch: Collin Sexton (17.9 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 2.4 APG)
Kevin Love (16.7 PPG, 10.6 RPG, 2.9 APG)
Tristan Thompson (12.8 PPG, 10.1 RPG, 2.3 APG)

Toronto Raptors Betting

The Toronto Raptors are still searching for the right mix of players that can offset the absence of Siakam, Gasol and Powell due to injuries. They are 1-3 in their last four games but salvaged a huge win in Boston, 113-97, on Christmas Day. Toronto will continue to lean on Lowry, who has been playing extended minutes because of the injuries.

Players to Watch: Kyle Lowry (20.8 PPG, 5.0 RPG, and 7.5 APG)
Fred VanVleet (18.2 PPG and 6.9 APG)
Serge Ibaka (13.8 PPG and 7.9 RPG)

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Toronto Raptors Betting Picks

The Raptors might be the huge NBA spread and Moneyline betting favorites but the Cavaliers are certainly no pushovers. They have been competitive in the last five games, and the possible return of Kevin Love from a hip injury could really help the Cavs snatch a straight up or ATS win.

Moneyline: The Raptors are missing some key cogs on their lineup, but I still think they have enough firepower to outgun the Cavaliers on their home floor. Plus, they are 18-3 when entering the game as favorites.

ATS: The Cavaliers are on a four-game ATS winning streak and they have a really good chance of extending it to five, thanks to an extra 9.5 points.

TOTALs: The total opened at 216.5 points. The Raptors and Cavaliers combined for 246 points in their last game, but the Raptors still had Siakam, Gasol, and Powell then. Toronto’s output has been playing around 96 to 115 points in the last four games, and I expect them to produce between that range in this particular game. The Cavaliers’ improved scoring though is giving me the confidence to pick OVER.

Score Prediction: 110 – 104 Raptors
