Philadelphia 76ers
The 76ers enter this Thursday night contest with a 12-8 record that ranks them 3rd in the Atlantic Division and 5th in the Eastern Conference. That 12-8 record places Philadelphia 1 game behind the 4th place Toronto Raptors, 6 games behind the conference leading Celtics, and also gives them a slight lead over the 12-10 Indiana Pacers – who currently rank 6th in the East. Philly got off to a rough start in 2017 as they posted 3 consecutive losses. However, with talents like Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, it didn’t take Philadelphia very long to bounce back. The 76ers have gone 4-1 in their last 5 and it’s clear that the betting odds NBA are having a hard time sizing up this evening’s pairings.
To help get it done this evening, the 76ers will be turning to the sensation that is Joel Embiid. Embiid is a fan favorite as he’s considered one of the most entertaining players in the league, especially off the field. Embiid is putting up 22.9 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. Simmons is second in points for Philly as he’s averaging 18.7 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per contest.
Boston Celtics
The Celtics bounce into this evening’s pairing flashing an 18-4 record that pegs them as the winningest team in the NBA and also ranks them No. 1 in the East. Kyrie Irving has been an absolute powerhouse for Boston this season and there’s no question that Boston vs. Cleveland will be one of the most important storylines of the season. Right now the Cavs rank 3rd in the Conference, and there’s no question that LeBron James & Co. are vying to become the top dog in the East. But Boston, despite the fact that they’re without Gordon Hayward, have been doing a great job of holding the lead down at the top of the East. That said, Boston has gone 2-2 in their last 4 games and will need to mount a win-streak in the coming weeks in order to maintain their lead at the top of the East. The basketball teaser odds haven’t come out yet but they are likely to favor Boston once they do.
Fans tuning in for this Thursday night contest can expect Irving to light up the floor once again. Irving is currently averaging 22.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. Second in points for the Celts is Jaylen Brown who is putting up 15.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per matchup.
