Although Kevin Durant was able to suit up for the Warriors’ practice this past Sunday, the Warriors’ superstar is still listed as questionable ahead of their Game 5 matchup against the Toronto Raptors. Naturally, when NBA basketball betting fans saw that Durant had suited up on Sunday, they were eager to take a shot at the Warriors. Since then the money line has moved but the Raptors are still pegged as tonight’s sportsbook favorites. So what should players learning how to bet on sports do here?

2019 NBA Finals: Game 5 | Warriors vs. Raptors – Monday, June 10th

When: 9:00 pm ET

Where: Scotiabank Arena, Toronto, Ontario

Stream: ABC Sports, NBA League Pass

Online NBA Betting Odds:

Golden State Warriors

This is newfound ground for the Warriors, seeing as how the franchise has never been in a sitch like this before. Despite making four straight NBA Finals appearances, Golden State is in their toughest fight yet. No doubt Durant’s absence has played a major part in this debacle. Durant has yet to suit up in this series and although Curry has done his best to deliver, the Warriors just don’t look the same here. Their defense isn’t as strong, their shooting hasn’t been quite as crisp and it’s clear Durant’s absence is the biggest reason why. Needless to say, the 2018 NBA Champions have their backs against the wall.

Tonight Golden State enters as a slight 1 ½ point underdog on the spread. All in all, it’s somewhat surprising to see the online NBA betting odds predict such a close matchup. After all, Toronto managed to win Game 4 decisively 105-92. That contest saw Leonard deliver 36 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists 4 steals and even a block. On the other hand, Thompson had the biggest night for Golden State as he finished with 28-points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Despite taking the lead in the first half of the matchup, Golden State began to lose their grip in the third. Afterwards they never really recovered and fell to 3-1 in the Finals.

Seeing as how the LeBron-led Cleveland Cavaliers are the only team to have ever come back from a 3-1 deficit in the Finals, it’s clear things are not looking up for Golden State. Nevertheless, the odds are still giving them a shot tonight despite playing on the road.

Players to Watch: Stephen Curry (28.4 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 5.6 apg), Klay Thompson (19.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.1 apg), and Draymond Green (13.6 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 8.3 apg).

Toronto Raptors

The Raptors once again enter as betting favorites to no one’s surprise. All things considered, Toronto has been extremely dominant this series. However, that dominance hasn’t stopped the spread from moving this last couple of days. Originally Toronto entered as a 3 to 3 ½ point favorite against the spread. Since then, bettors have been moving the line down to where it’s situated at the moment. With this in mind, it’s clear that bettors are anticipating Durant’s return this evening. However, even if the 2014 MVP does make his return, it’s unlikely that he’ll be at 100%. Nevertheless, it’s clear that the people putting money on this matchup feel that Durant will be able to tilt the scales in Golden State’s favor.

But while the bettors do feel Durant will help the Warriors, they don’t necessarily see Golden State winning Game 5. After all, as of late Sunday night, the Raptors were receiving 54% of the bets placed on this championship match and 71% of the money placed against the spread. Comparatively, the OVER is getting 87% of the bets on the money line. This has subsequently caused the TOTAL to rise to 214 ½ – where it currently sits at the time of writing this article.

Players to Watch: Kawhi Leonard (31.1 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 3.9 apg), Pascal Siakam (19.0 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 2.8 apg), and Kyle Lowry (14.4 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 6.5 apg).
