Yankees-Astros MLB betting: Judge, Jury and Executioner

Aaron Judge and Jose Altuve will star in the New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros American League Championship MLB betting series – and later on, perhaps during the offseason, they can star in a remake of Twins. “It’s going to be fun,” Judge said. “A new challenge. We’re excited for it.” it is new for the rookie, but not so much for either Yanks or ‘Stros, who met in the AL Wild Card Game in 2015.

Astros -1½ (+110) 8½ (-125) -180
“I don’t look at it as beating the odds,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said, though that’s exactly what they have been doing, up to and including their 5-2 upset against the Cleveland Indians in game 5 of the American League divisions series on Wednesday – only the seventh time that a team has rallied from a 0-2 deficit in the divisional series since 1995 (and the second time for the Bombers). “Not everyone believed in us, because I don’t think people knew what you were going to get out of an Aaron Judge, out of Gary Sanchez or Luis Severino. We believed in our players. They’ve made a difference.” The Yankees are 9-2 in their last 11 games playing a team with a winning record, 4-1 in their last five against AL West clubs, and 6-2 in their last eight Game 1s. The Yanks will probably start either Sonny Gray or Masahiro Tanaka. Gray (10-12) has a 3.54 ERA with 153 strikeouts over 162.2 innings this season, and allowed three earned runs in 3½ innings in his Division Series start. The MLB betting total has gone over in four of the Yankees’ last five visits to Houston.
They have a problem, Houston
Dallas Keuchel (LHP, 14-5, 2.90 ERA, 125 K) surrendered one run in three hits, struck out seven, and walked three in 5 2/3 innings of ALDS game 2 against the Red Sox, an Astros 8-2 win at home. Keuchel has, in three career playoff starts, a 0.96 ERA, and is 5-2 with a 1.24 ERA in seven career starts against the Yankees. Additionally, the Astros led the MLB in runs (896), batting average (.282), on-base percentage (.346), and slugging percentage this season. One of the few stats they didn’t dominate was home runs – the Yanks did. Houston is 4-0 in the last four Friday games, 13-3 in the last 16 games at home, 4-1 in their last five against AL East opposition, and 4-1 in the last five league championship games. The MLB betting total has gone under in 11 of the Astros last 16 times hosting New York. More importantly, the ‘Stros won five of their seven 2017 regular season meetings with the Yankees. Nonetheless, “It’s a tough challenge,” Houston manager AJ Hinch said. Wild Card teams that win the Wild Card Game and win the Division Series have a lot of momentum.”
