Monday brings another online MLB betting opportunity as the season progresses. Let’s recap what we saw this weekend, before breaking down one of Monday’s best betting options.
Weekend’s Online MLB Betting Recap
Major League Baseball continued this past Saturday as the league offered a total of 3-games for fans to tune in for. The first contest of the day ended in a Rockies 5-8 win over the Philadelphia Phillies, followed by the Giants edging past the Diamondbacks 5-4. The last match of the day featured the A’s shutting out the Angels 5-0.
Sunday offered a more diverse lineup, with a total of 16 matchups for MLB sportsbook fans to tune in for. The Yankees took the stage first, earning a solid 8-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians. Afterwards, the Rays scathed past the Brewers 2-1.
There were a handful of blowouts this past Sunday, most notably the Cardinals 13-4 pounding of the Cincinnati Reds. The Tigers also got beat pretty bad: 12-3 at the hands of the Orioles. The Mets didn’t get much done against the Dodgers either, as Los Angeles shut them out 8-zip.
There will be a total of 7 MLB contests for fans to wager on this online MLB betting Monday, two of which will get the national spotlight. Speaking of National, let’s take a look at the NL East matchup between the Miami Marlins and Washington Nationals.

Miami Marlins
The Marlins swim into this contest with a 52-57 record that snags them the No. 2 spot in the NL East, despite being a losing record. Apart from the Nationals, who have a 13 game lead over Miami, the NL East has been rather uncompetitive this season, with only one team having a record above .500. Lastly, Miami owns a 1 ½ game lead over the 3rd place Atlanta Braves.
The Marlins have failed to make the postseason for 13 years running, stretching all the way back to their 2003 World Series win over the New York Yankees. As things currently stand, it does not seem like Miami will be able to snap that playoff drought in 2017. Nevertheless, the Marlins will be sending Chris O’Grady to the mound Monday, in an effort to topple the division-leaders. O’Grady is 2-1 on the season with a 1.60 WHIP. O’Grady seems more than excited to be getting the start this evening.
Off to Washing DC ✈️ Excited to get to pitch back where I was in the college days! #MasonNation @MasonBaseball @MasonAthletics

Washington Nationals
The Nationals enter Monday’s contest sporting a 65-44 record that ranks them 1st in the NL East. As aforementioned, the lack of competition from the NL East this season has left Washington unchallenged at the top of the division, and the Nationals should have little difficulty closing out the season on top.
Max Scherzer will get the start for the Nationals. Scherzer is 12-5 on the season with a 2.21 ERA as well as a 0.84 WHIP. Baseball wagering sites and fans alike will agree that those are some pretty eye-catching stats, making it seem like the Nats are the clear choice for players betting on MLB this Monday.
