Phillies Looking to Avoid Baseball Wagering Sweep

As the week progresses, more and more baseball wagering fans begin to look over this year’s draft selections. However, since all but a few of these selections are going to have to wait a minimum of two years before making their Major League Baseball debut, there are more important things to focus on ahead of this weekend’s action. Thursday brings with it 10 MLB contests but before we look over intriguing matchups, let’s breakdown what went down this past Wednesday.

Wednesday’s Baseball Wagering Recap

Wednesday had a full menu of Major League Baseball action that gave way to some eye-raising results.

One of the most interesting online sports betting outcomes came from the Nationals and Braves matchup. In a 3-game series, both teams were exchanging heavy blows with Atlanta beating Washington 11-10 in the first game and the Nats getting some 10-5 revenge in Game 2. Nevertheless, the Braves set the record straight by blowing out the Nats 13-2 this past Wednesday.

The Dodgers-Indians matchup was nationally broadcast Wednesday evening and the contest certainly didn’t disappoint. The odds on MLB games favored Los Angeles and the Dodgers came through for the sportsbooks 6-4 in a tight contest. Despite their lackluster record, Cleveland put up a bigger fight than most were expecting. The Dodgers and Indians will go toe-to-toe once again today at midday.

In addition to round 3 of the Los Angeles-Cleveland matchup, one intriguing contest worth betting on is the contest between the Boston Red Sox and the Philadelphia Phillies. Thursday’s contest will mark Game 4 of their series, and the Red Sox are on the verge of sweeping Philadelphia. Will the Phillies be able to save their reputation? Or will Boston provide another easy baseball wagering prediction?

Boston Red Sox -1 ½ (-140)  8 ½ (-110)       -237

Philadelphia Phillies +1 ½ (+120)     8 ½ (-110)       +217

Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox come into this matchup with a 37-28 record that ranks them second in the AL East, two-games behind division leading New York. Additionally, Boston enjoys a 2 ½ game lead over 3rd place Tampa Bay. The Sox also come into this contest riding a 3-game win streak, thanks to the three consecutive victories they’ve picked up over Philadelphia.

To help sweep the Phillies, Boston will be starting Chris Sale Thursday evening. Sale is 8-2 on the season and has an impressive 2.97 ERA and an even more impressive 0.96 WHIP on the season. Sale is one of the many reasons the Red Sox come into this contest as the baseball wagering favorites.

Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies have been having a despicable season and are currently sitting on a scant 21-43 record. Philadelphia has lost the last 8 consecutive contests and will likely be swept this evening.

In an effort to keep that from happening, Philadelphia will be sending Nick Pivetta to the mound. Pivetta is 1-3 on the season with a 5.52 ERA. Pivetta doesn’t inspire a whole lot of confidence for Philadelphia fans.
