New York Yankees

The Yanks march into this Monday night pairing sporting a 30-13 record that ranks them 1st in the AL East. The Yankees have been involved in a fierce battle alongside the Boston Red Sox for the lead in the division. As of right now, New York and Boston are nearly deadlocked for the lead in the division. Obviously, New York needs a win this evening to create some separation. To help get it, New York will be sending Masahiro Tanaka to the mound this Monday night. Tanaka is a right handed pitcher who enters this matchup with a 4-2 record on the year. Additionally, Tanaka has a 4.73 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP to his name.

Players to Watch: Aaron Judge (11 HR, 35 RBI, .282 BA), Giancarlo Stanton (11 HR, 27 RBI, .263 BA), and Gary Sanchez (12 HR, 33 RBI, .225 BA).

Texas Rangers

Things aren’t going well for the Rangers this season, considering that they’re sitting on a 18-30 record. That terrible record ranks Texas dead last in the AL West, a whopping 12-games behind the division leading Houston Astros. If that wasn’t bad enough, the Rangers have posted a 2-6 record in their last 8. Clearly they’ll be outmatched this evening. Nevertheless, in an effort to come out on top, Texas will be starting Bartolo Colon tonight. Colon has a 2-1 record to his name this year, as well as a 2.82 ERA and a 0.84 WHIP. With Colon on the mound, Texas might actually stand a shot at home. This will mark Texas’ first time facing New York, so we’ll get to see how they fare against some of the best talent in the league.

Players to Watch: Nomar Mazara (10 HR, 27 RBI, .276 BA), Shin-Soo Choo (6 HR, 21 RBI, .251 BA), and Joey Gallo (13 HR, 30 RBI, .199 BA).
