Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets – Friday, June 16th

This weekend is packed to the brim with online MLB betting action. With a full schedule on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, sports betting players are bound to have a blast hitting up the MLB lines this weekend. Before we dive into what we can expect this Friday, let’s take a look at what went down this past Thursday.

Thursday’s Online MLB Betting Recap

Thursday gave way to some pretty interesting results. The Philadelphia Phillies, who were riding a massive losing streak and were on the verge of getting swept by the Boston Red Sox, managed to overcome the odds to deliver a 1-0 online MLB betting upset to Boston. But that wasn’t the only upset of the night.

The Cleveland Indians, who were also dangerously close to getting swept, managed to bulldoze the Los Angeles Dodgers 12-5. In doing so the Indians managed to break Los Angeles’ 6-game win streak, and avenged their Wednesday night defeat.

In addition to those upsets, there were some nail-biters. The Oakland Athletics were able to slip past the New York Yankees 8-7, the Boston White Sox beat the Boston Orioles 5-2, and the Tigers beat the Rays by 2, 5-3.

Friday has a total of 15 sports betting contests lined up for sportsbook players. Most of the action will take place later on in the day, with the earliest contest beginning at 7 o’clock this evening. A total of 4 contests will be broadcast nationally, with the matchup between the Washington Nationals and the New York Mets taking place first. Let’s see what the odds are predicting for this matchup.

Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets – Friday, June 16th

When: 7:10 pm ET

Where: Citi Field

Series: Game 2 of 4-Game Series

Stream: MLB TV

Sportsbook Odds:

Washington Nationals -1 ½ (+115)   7 ½ (-105)       -140

New York Mets +1 ½ (-135) 7 ½ (-115)       +130

Washington Nationals

The Washington Nationals come into this game feeling pretty disappointed with their performance as of late. The Nats may currently lead the NL East with their 40-26 record, which places them 9 ½ games ahead of the 2nd place New York Mets, but they’ve hit a rough patch. In their last 7-games, Washington has posted a 5-2 record. They’re not at danger of losing the top-spot, but they will be if the current trend continues.

To help get back to their winning ways, the Nationals will be starting Max Scherzer Friday evening. Scherzer is 7-4 on the season with a 2.36 ERA and a 0.85 WHIP.

New York Mets

The Mets are looking to dethrone the Nationals and a win this Friday would be a step in the right direction. New York enters this contest with a 30-35 record that gives a slight 1-game lead over 3rd place Miami.

Steven Matz will get the start for New York. Matz is 1-0 on the season and an impressive 1.29 ERA and 0.86 WHIP. Albeit, Matz’ stats come from just 7 innings, so we haven’t truly seen what the newcomer is capable of. Nevertheless, the sportsbook odds are ruling against him.
