Nationals-Dodgers Get National Baseball Betting Coverage
After a short Saturday, but long Sunday, of online MLB betting action, it is time to return to the office, where our minds will mostly be focused on work. Of course, there’s still a little wiggle room for this week’s Major League Baseball action. Let’s take a look at the results we saw this weekend, as well as the contests the MLB has lined up to start this week off right.
This Weekend’s Action In a Nutshell
There were only two games held this past Saturday, both later on in the night. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim defeated the Minnesota Twins 7-2 and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Seattle Mariners in an even more defiant manner, 9-2.
Sunday offered the real treat for MLB sports betting fans, as there were a total of 15 games to tune in for. With so many contests, there were a variety of results throughout the day. The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Kansas City Royals suffered the biggest blowouts Sunday. The Pirates lost 11-1 to the New York Mets while the Royals suffered an 8-0 shutout at the hands of the Cleveland Indians.
On top of blowouts, there were a handful of matchups that came down to the wire. The Arizona Diamondbacks lost a close one to the Miami Marlins 6-5, and the Minnesota Twins pulled out on top of a rather dull 3-2 contest over the Los Angeles Angels. Arguably the most thrilling contest was the pairing between the Washington Nationals and the Oakland Athletics, which ended 11-10 in Washington’s favor.
The Nationals will get the national spotlight this Monday night when they face off against the Los Angeles Dodgers. This will be one of two late-night contests of the night, but since it’s getting broadcasted across the nation there’s no doubt more eyes will be on the Dodgers-Nationals game. With both teams near the top of their division, this contest should prove to be worthy of tuning in for. Let’s see who the baseball betting odds are siding with.
Washington Nationals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers – Game 1 – Monday, June 5th
When: 10:10 pm ET
Where: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles
Series: First of Three-Game Series
Baseball Betting Odds:
Washington Nationals +1 ½ (-185) 8 (-120) +125
Los Angeles Dodgers -1 ½ (+160) 8 (EV) -135
The Washington Nationals ride into this contest sporting a 35-20 record that lands the franchise the top spot in the NL East. Washington has played extremely dominant this season, as their record ties ranks them for the second most wins in the entire NL (alongside the Dodgers interestingly enough). However, the Nationals have gone mostly unchallenged in the NL East, as they own a 10 ½ game lead over 2nd place Atlanta. The baseball betting odds will likely favor Washington to win the NL East this year.
Washington will be giving Gio Gonzalez the start Monday night. Gonzalez is 4-1 on the season and owns a 3.03 ERA.
Los Angeles Dodgers
Unlike the Nationals, the Dodgers come from an extremely competitive division. Los Angeles has a 35-23 record on the season that ranks them 2nd in the NL West, ½ a game behind the Colorado Rockies. The Dodgers are far from comfortable in 2nd place however, since the Diamondbacks are right on their tails – just two games behind.
Hyun Jin Ryu will be sent to the mound against Washington. Ryu is 2-5 on the season and has a 3.91 ERA. Accounting for Ryu’s lack of success this season, a bet on the Nationals seems like the obvious choice Monday night.
