MLB Baseball Betting Odds Favor Toronto over NY?
Posted by: Mike Davis
Wednesday’s MLB baseball betting action resulted in some surprising results. No, there wasn’t anyone storming the pitcher, whipping their helmet in a humorous fashion. But there was more than a fair share of upsets.
Wild, Wild, Wednesday
Inarguably the biggest shocker of the night came from the St. Louis Cardinals, who managed to pull one over the red hot Los Angeles Dodgers. Coming into Wednesday’s Game 3 matchup, the Dodgers were riding a wave of confidence, thanks to their 6-match win streak. That streak also included two wins over the Cardinals, 5-1 and 9-4 respectively. But despite a poor sports betting performance early in the series, St. Louis managed to stop one of the MLB’s hottest teams. Nevertheless, despite suffering a loss this Wednesday, the Dodgers have managed to hang onto their lead atop the NL West just a little while longer. However, they are far from comfortable since the top three teams in the NL West all have 33-wins on the season.
Other noteworthy results from Tuesday’s action include the Baltimore Orioles surprising 10-4 routing of the New York Yankees, the Brewers beating the Mets by six (7-1), and the Houston Astros lighting up the scoreboard against the Minnesota Twins 17-6. But now that Wednesday’s MLB baseball betting action is behind us, players can shift their focus to Thursday’s action and subsequent online betting odds.

New York Yankees
The Yankees come into Thursday’s contest sporting a 30-20 record, which lands them the top spot in the AL East. Coming off a season in which they failed to qualify for the postseason, New York is ecstatic to be in 1st place in the division. However, New York’s position isn’t exactly safe with longtime rival the Boston Red Sox creeping up right behind them. Currently the Yankees own a 2-game lead over Boston, which isn’t enough to instill confidence in New York’s organization.
The Yankees will send CC Sabathia to the mound against Toronto. Sabathia is 5-2 on the season with an ERA of 4.42. This series will mark the first time New York faces the Blue Jays, but the two are fated to face each other later on in July.
Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays have made two-straight playoff appearances, but judging by how they currently measure it does not seem like Toronto will be making it three-straight. The Blue Jays presently rank dead last in the AL East, thanks to their disappointing 26-27 record. Toronto is 3-games behind 4th-place Tampa Bay and 5 ½ games behind 1st-place New York.
The Blue Jays will be giving Marco Estrada the start against the Yankees. Estrada is 4-2 on the season with a 3.15 ERA. Oddly enough, the MLB baseball betting odds have decided to favor the bottom-ranked Blue Jays over the division-leading Yankees. This pegging could result in some lucrative results for bettors who feel confident New York will prove its dominance Thursday evening.
